Looking for all things automotive in the City of Steel?

Steel City Society is your go-to automotive event holder in the Greater Pittsburgh Area... welcoming all those in the Keystone State and beyond!

The event was attended by a vast array of modified cars from all over Pittsburgh, with plenty of trade stands, there was certainly a lot of variety for the customers who turned up, with plenty to see and conversations being had, with people asking about their favourite cars and taking plenty of photographs both from professionals, kids and the general public, the car owners certainly looked to be enjoying the attention they were getting, which is what these events are all about, a good day out for everybody, seeing nice cars, and making new friends in the car scene.

More events and shows are planned for the near future so make sure to check in regularly to keep up to date, now a little about the organiser Alex.

Alex became involved with the Pittsburgh car scene in 2014 at a random meet hosted by them. He met The owner of the brand at that meet, while he was there he did some random photo shoots for the meet, which then evolved into volunteering to help run the brand as the brand grew. Later on, Alex volunteered one of his skills, Graphic design and also gave ideas for bigger shows. Once those ideas came to be, Alex helped coordinate the big events.

In 2017 Steel City XPO came about when they were invited to another show in Pittsburgh called World of Wheels. The idea was to host an indoor show filled with the top cars people can see just driving around in Pittsburgh. He liked the idea of indoor shows and wanted to make it a lot more inviting to more people in the car culture of Pittsburgh. 2022 was his first show hosted by himself after the issues that occurred with the former owner of the Pittsburgh car scene and the transfer which only left him about a month to put on the show

In 2022 due to personal issues with the brand owner, the band dissolved. Which was replaced with steel society which is managed by Alex Lafferty and his business partner Alex Blair. In the future, Alex plans to turn Steel City Society into an even bigger brand by hosting bigger upscale events, travelling, and networking. The brand also plans to the vendor at other shows in hopes of bringing more people to Pittsburgh.

Alex started his passion for cars through his uncle who is an auto body tech and painter in his late teens along with high school friends, this passion drives him to make the best shows and events, highlighting the car scene he is heavily involved with.

Alex isn't just another car guy seeking attention, his passion for cars started with his first car was 2005 SXT Neon which was also the first car he modified by doing basic mods, it only lasted until his graduation day, due to the harness melting. He sold the car for a mk4 GTI and it was on from there which was the first car he got to pick on his own. It also started his love for VW cars

His current cars are a 2019 final edition turbo bug and a 1963 standard beetle

Mk4 bug roller, his favourite is his 1963 because he literally can’t get out of it. He loves absolutely everything about it. He also loves the attention the car brings and the stories he hears from others even when he goes and puts in gas at the station. He hears people get excited about it, kids and car scene people. It is one of the most iconic cars made to date.

"Remember Car Shows and Events are here for us all and they can’t happen without the car scene, the car modifiers and the hard work of everyone involved, this is a passion for us all"
