Dan Regan - Car Meet: Fuel

The first few meets were held at Froginwell Vineyard outside Exeter, but with the ground potentially becoming boggy and cars getting stuck the meet was moved to a new location, Mansell Raceway in Honiton, which is completely hard standing.

Dan Regan

Car Meet: Fuel

Story: James Webber

One of the newest and most exciting car meets is gaining some real momentum at the moment. Started in August 2019, founder Dan Regan created Re: Fuel so that car enthusiasts across the south-west of England would have a place they could meet and discuss anything motoring related over coffee and a bite to eat. The formula is quite simple, the meet is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month (on sabbatical atm due to the pandemic), runs from 9 am till 4 pm and people can turn up and leave as and when they choose.

Anything is welcome from a £500 project car to a multimillion-pound supercar, dailies, bikes, you name it if it has wheels it’s there. The first few meets were held at Froginwell Vineyard outside Exeter, but with the ground potentially becoming boggy and cars getting stuck the meet was moved to a new location, Mansell Raceway in Honiton, which is completely hard standing.

Just to give you a scale of how big the meet is becoming, at the 1st meet Dan said they had 250 cars turn up and just before the pandemic hit one meet recorded nearly 800 cars turn up. There is now also a core of regular attendees who, for some, have never missed a meet, which shows real dedication and a passion for supporting the team.

The on-site cafe produces some stunning breakfasts and coffee (I can personally vouch for this) and outside two mobile caterers, The Fat Pony and Lemon Jelli offer burger and crepes options. The team have also produced some merchandise that can be purchased online or at any of the meets.

Since the pandemic hit the team have changed things a bit to make it safer for everyone, including a morning and afternoon session, pre-ticket entry, face coverings mandatory etc. Plans for the future include finding a new permanent home and being open 7 days a week. A small committee team has been set up to discuss future plans and ideas.

The pictures shown are a variety from several meets I have attended to give you readers an idea of the diversity of vehicles that have turned up.
