My name is Heather Howells, I am 39 years old, and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I have two children, Noah who is 20 and Gage who is 11. My boys love cars just as much as I do.

Growing up, my father was into building rat rods, and I would be his tool gofer in the garage. He introduced me to the car scene at a very young age.  I remember spending weekends with him at Keller’s Drive-In located in Dallas. They would hold car meets there every weekend and my dad would take me up there in his hot rod where we would meet new people and check out all the different cars. I really enjoyed doing that with my dad as a kid.

It started with Modifying a Honda Civic

The first car that I ever modified was a 1998 Honda Civic. I was in high school at the time, so it wasn’t much, but I enjoyed cruising around in it with my friends. I created a lot of good memories with that car.

I bought a Toyota Camry in June of 2019. I originally bought the car to commute back and forth to work with no intention of making any modifications. I liked the body style, gas mileage, and dependability which is why I chose to buy the Camry.

The year 2020 was a rough one with my grandmother and a close co-worker passing. Covid was also shutting down the schools, so the kids were getting restless. To help cope with all that was going on I decided to get out into the car scene. I felt that it would give the kids and I something to bond over and help get our minds off of everything. We started out by going to local car meets and eventually to some car shows.

Joining my Dream Team: Team Diverse

By the second car show, the Camry was on Ferrada Wheels and coilovers with a few other modifications. I met up with the president of a show team called Team Diverse to express interest in joining them. You could really tell there was more to them than just having nice cars. The team motto was Family First and that’s what it was really all about. Team Diverse became a second family to me from that point on. They have inspired me with my build and in my personal life.  After joining Diverse, the build progressed pretty quickly. With the help of a few Diverse members (you guys know who you are), the airlift suspension was installed.

Future Plans for the Toyota Camry XSE

In the future, I would like to purchase an S 13 and start on the dream build that I have had since I was a teenager. I’ve always really loved the early 90’s JDM cars.

I am really grateful for the car scene. I have met so many wonderful genuine people who have become close friends of mine that I would not have met otherwise.
