A Tradition of Family and Cars
I have attended this show since 2013, and it gets better every year. This event has always given me family reunion vibes but with cars. Despite the heat, it's always a good time with food, music, cars, and family. This show is run by Jazel and his crew, Team Love Hate. I had the chance to chat with him this year between his tasks of ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Background of the Show and Organizers
Team Love Hate and Team Neu Era
The car show portion of the annual Sacramento Filipino Fiesta Charity Show is hosted by Team LoveHATE and Team Neu Era. This exclusive event offers a unique opportunity to display your ride while enjoying the day with food, music, and rich Filipino culture, all while raising money for community outreach.
A Charitable Cause
This is an extremely exclusive event where 100% of the proceeds go towards the 501C3 organization, "Filipino Fiesta Sacramento." The goal is to bring generations of car enthusiasts together to share their passion while enjoying the festival's many attractions and cultural events.
The Legacy of Team Neu Era
Origins and Evolution
Team NEU ERA was founded in 1994 by Franz Reyes to signify racers in the church. Initially, it was a group of churchgoers with a passion for racing, which later evolved into a full-fledged team of drag racers from all walks of life. The team delved into all things related to car racing, growing into a well-respected name in the community.
The Filipino Fiesta of Sacramento
A Collaborative Effort
The Filipino Fiesta of Sacramento (FFS) is a 501C3 non-profit organization managed by representatives from six Filipino American community organizations:
- Filipino Community of Sacramento & Vicinity
- Filipino American Veterans Association
- Filipino American Women’s Club
- Sinag-tala, SFPTAA
- The Ilocanos of America
- UP Alumni Association
These organizations work in cooperation, friendship, and mutual support to showcase Filipino American history and culture through educational and cultural activities.
The Annual Filipino Fiesta
FFS's major event is the annual Filipino Fiesta, held on the first Sunday of June to celebrate Philippine Independence Day. The Filipino Fiesta of Sacramento aims to unite different generations to teach, learn, and share Filipino American history and culture.
Promoting Community and Culture
Joint Educational and Cultural Activities
We work on joint educational and cultural activities with organizations in the broader Sacramento community. Our mission is to promote better relations among the youth and the community by sponsoring events and activities that advance performing arts, sports, public health, and safety.
