MY SINGLE TURBO G37 IS FINALLY BACK!

The Journey Begins: From G35 to Tesla Model 3

My name is Khris Taylor, a 42-year-old car influencer originally from San Diego, California. Cars have always been a part of my life, though my passion didn’t stem from one single influence. Instead, it was sparked by the people around me—family members who loved working on engines, friends discussing tuning trends, and my uncle’s contagious enthusiasm for classic muscle cars. His stories about restoring old vehicles inspired me to dive into the automotive world.

My journey began with a G35 project car I built in 2012. That car taught me everything about the car scene—from modifications to building relationships within the community. Fast forward to today, I’ve taken a completely different direction with my Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range.

Transitioning to the Tesla Model 3

When I first envisioned modifying the Model 3, I wanted to create something show-stopping, and showcasing the car at SEMA became my ultimate goal. I pitched my vision to Angela, the owner of Rohana Wheels, who appreciated my concept and provided me with custom wheels and a prime spot at the SEMA show in 2021.

Before diving into Tesla, my journey was fueled by building and refining the G35. Wrapped in red chrome, with custom wheels and an AirRiders air suspension kit, the G35 became my entry point into car shows. Over the years, I continually upgraded the car, changing its wrap and components while gaining sponsorships from companies like Extreme Dimensions, John Auto Salon, and 360 Wax. These partnerships helped me create a build I could be proud of and sparked my love for evolving my cars.

What Makes My Tesla Model 3 Unique

What makes any car stand out is the personal connection and custom modifications that go into it. For my Tesla, the color choices, carbon fiber accents, and attention to detail make it truly one of a kind.

Tesla Model 3 Key Modifications

  • Exterior Wraps:
Benny, a close friend, wrapped the Model 3 for SEMA two years in a row. In 2020, it sported Dragon Scale Red, while in 2021, it turned heads with Millennium Hunter Jade by Inozetek.

  • Custom Carbon Fiber Hood:
Designed by Anthony Brian of Infinite Auto Design, the hood was inspired by a McLaren 720 design.

  • Interior Upgrades:
CJ from Ruined.ev installed a subwoofer, ambient LED lighting, and worked on the trunk setup, while Kyle added custom overlays to the carbon fiber fenders.

  • Future Plans:
Next year, I plan to add an Artisan Spirits kit for the Model 3. My philosophy is that no car is ever truly finished—there’s always room for improvement.

Tips for Aspiring Car Modifiers

If you’re considering building your dream car, here are a few tips I’ve learned along the way:

  1. Check the Vehicle History: Always run a VIN check before buying.

  2. Inspect Thoroughly: Look for mismatched paint or uneven tire wear, as these can signal issues.

  3. Test Drive: Listen for unusual noises and ensure the brakes and steering feel right.

Most importantly, focus on creating a build that reflects your vision. Take your time, and enjoy the process!

The Car Scene: A Community Like No Other

What keeps me passionate about cars isn’t just the vehicles—it’s the connections and camaraderie that come with the car scene. Over the years, I’ve built friendships that feel like family. Groups like Ruined.ev and Socal_g_ have supported me through thick and thin, ensuring my setups are flawless.

Whether it’s restoring classics or creating modern masterpieces, the satisfaction of bringing a project to life is unmatched.

Dreaming of the Future

My ultimate dream car is the Nissan GTR R35. If I ever get my hands on one, the first upgrade will be a wide-body Pandem kit, complemented by sleek Rohana wheels and an air-ride suspension to perfect the stance.

Building cars is more than assembling parts—it’s about expressing your personality and passion, creating something that represents who you are on the road.
