The Inspiration Behind the Build
My name is Luis Gomez, and my girlfriend, Delmy Romero, and I are the proud creators of a unique 2022 Tesla Model Y. Cars have always been a part of my life. Growing up, my family had a constant presence of imports and Lowriders around the house, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
When it came time to choose a car to modify together, Delmy originally dreamed of owning a 1964 Chevy Impala convertible. However, with her long daily commutes and our love for long drives, we realized a classic Lowrider wasn’t practical for her needs—at least not yet. Instead, we decided to modify a Tesla Model Y, blending the heritage of Lowrider culture with the future of electric vehicles.
This build is more than a car; it’s a reflection of our creativity, our shared passion for the car scene, and a friendly, playful competition that pushes us to improve every aspect of the vehicle.
The Build Process: Collaboration and Community
Our Tesla Model Y wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible support from talented professionals and companies who helped bring our vision to life. From paint jobs to interior customization, countless hours of work and sleepless nights went into this project.

Our Favorite Features
The paint and artwork are hands-down our favorite aspects of the car. The intricate airbrushed graphics and vibrant candy colors reflect the essence of Lowrider culture. Delmy played a pivotal role in choosing the theme and colors. We spent hours at the paint shop, examining patterns and fades to create the perfect look, and it turned out even better than we imagined.
The Lowrider Tesla Vision
Our goal with this Tesla Model Y was to fuse modern EV technology with the classic aesthetics of Lowrider culture. The Vogue Tires and air suspension were critical elements in achieving this vision. Pitching the idea to Vogue Tires was a leap of faith, but they loved the concept, and their support has been invaluable.
This build is not just a car; it’s a tribute to Lowrider culture’s multicultural heritage and artistry.
Overcoming Challenges
The biggest challenge was time—there was never enough of it. We often worked against tight deadlines for shows, with many nights spent racing the clock. Despite the stress, the effort was always worth it when we saw the car completed and ready to impress.
Looking Ahead
This Tesla Model Y is far from finished. We plan to continue refining and upgrading it, adding even more unique features over the years. While we’ve had offers to display the car at the prestigious Petersen Automotive Museum, we chose to enjoy it ourselves for now.
Our long-term goal is to create even more custom vehicles, with plans to work on a 2024 Mazda Miata MX-5 hardtop convertible for SEMA 2024.
A Shared Passion for Customization
What drives us to build cars is the ability to express individuality and creativity. Customizing cars is an art form, and it’s thrilling to see people react to your work—whether they love it or hate it.
This Tesla Model Y is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved together. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration and shared passion.
