“You Are Allowed to Live Again.” “To single moms: You are allowed to have a life and do something for yourself.
To grieving parents: Life does go on — it's hard, but your child would want you to keep living.” — Rosa

For many people, a car is a hobby.
For Rosa, a 2019 Dodge Challenger SXT nicknamed ‘Sexy’ became something far more powerful — a lifeline, a compass, and a way back to herself.

Turning 50 hit her harder than expected. Working as a forklift operator at Tesla, she likes to joke that “Sexy is sponsored by Tesla” — because those paychecks built every inch of this car. But beneath the humour lies a deep truth: this build carried her out of the darkest chapter of her life.

Before the Build — A Life of Resilience

Rosa’s life has been anything but easy.

She’s a single mom of seven, a grandmother of ten, and a woman who raised her children while earning her education — twice.

Her dad tried to teach her about cars when she was young. Back then? She wasn’t listening. Now she laughs at the irony:

“I own a car I’m still figuring out.”

But nothing could prepare her for the tragedy that would transform everything.

September 2023 — The Day Everything Stopped

Life delivered a blow no parent is ready for.
Just weeks after celebrating her son’s and father’s birthdays, Rosa received the call every mother fears:

Her son Joseph had passed away.

The grief was crushing. Months blurred together as she struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts. She smiled for the world and shattered in private.

“I just wanted to be with my son,” she remembers.

Her daughter Chyan never left her side — watching, protecting, refusing to let grief take her mother too.

Nearly a year later, something shifted. Rosa knew Joe wouldn’t want her buried in pain.

“He would’ve told me to stop being so dramatic,” she says with a tearful laugh.

So she made a choice: to live again — for him.

The 2025 Comeback — Mopar Heaven

August 2025 became Rosa’s turning point.

She committed to returning to Mopar Heaven in Texas, this time ready to bring Sexy back with meaning.

Her daughters, Chyan and Shonah, helped piece together a fresh vision. Gabe from @legendary_wrapz executed a wrap that included a tribute to her son Joe.

The road trip wasn’t easy.
Dirt from four states.
Two stops for last-minute mods.
Plenty of chaos.

But when she rolled onto show grounds? Everything changed.

Terry from @Rdmbuilds noticed her immediately — and awarded her the first-ever RDM Black Card.

The next day, he came back with something even bigger:

“Rosa, you’re going to SEMA 2025.”

She accepted with Joe’s ashes in her hand.

“Joe… we’re going to SEMA.”

Why a Challenger?

Rosa’s answer is simple:

“Omg! Look at the lines, the stance, the sex appeal. Beautiful!”

She test drove everything — Mustang, Camaro, Charger — but nothing compared.

Trim level didn’t matter.
It was always going to be a Challenger.

And once she named her car Sexy, the personality of the build took on a life of its own.

Advice to New Builders

Rosa keeps it real:

  • “Run. Don’t do it!” (laughing)
  • Builds are stressful — do your homework.
  • Ask questions, learn as you go.
  • Start small; vision grows over time.
  • Most importantly:

“It’s your car and your vision. Have fun with it.”

What Makes Sexy… Sexy?

“She’s mine. Lol.”

But truthfully, Sexy is more than a car.
She is:

  • Rosa’s healing.
  • A tribute to Joe.
  • A symbol of survival.
  • Proof that V6s can be baddies too.

Final Thoughts — When a Build Becomes a Lifeline

Rosa didn’t just modify a Challenger.
She rebuilt herself.

Through heartbreak, resilience, and the magic of the Mopar community, she transformed Sexy into a rolling memorial, a source of strength, and a reminder that healing comes in many forms.

Sometimes a build isn’t about power.
Sometimes it’s about survival.

And Sexy?
She’s proof that a V6 can have just as much soul — and just as much story — as anything on the road.

r0cean11 Photography began as a simple hobby for me—something I explored out of pure curiosity and passion. Twenty-four years later, it has grown into one of the defining parts of my life. Before stepping fully into automotive photography, I spent years building cars for SEMA. I photographed my own builds and projects long before I ever considered taking the craft seriously. That all changed when my last build was totaled; from that moment, photography became more than an interest—it became my purpose. ----------- Today, I shoot and write for Stance Auto Magazine, PASMAG, 742 Marketing Events, Super Lap Battle, Global Time Attack, RACEWORZ, and a wide range of automotive events across the United States. ----------- To me, automotive photography is more than capturing a vehicle—it’s about telling the story that lives within it. Every builder leaves a piece of themselves in their car, and my job is to honor that by showcasing their vision through my lens. ----------- You’ll find my event coverage, feature shoots, and automotive storytelling across all my platforms. I’m always open to connecting, answering questions, and collaborating with builders, enthusiasts, and fellow creatives. ----------- I am also a Partner with Stance Auto Magazine, serving as the Director of Marketing and Media. ----------- Facebook (Personal): Donald Rochin (Donnie Roc)
