"It's midnight purple, RHD, and manual… and the legendary 2JZ. I just had to have it." – Oscar Wilkins
The Lineman with a Legend
Oscar Wilkins is 35 years old, a NorCal native, and a full-time lineman—the kind climbing poles and running heavy equipment. For him, this 1994 Toyota Supra MK4 isn't just another JDM project. It's the crown jewel of his collection. And ironically? It wasn't even the car he was originally shopping for.
From Need for Speed to the Real Thing
Oscar didn't grow up wrenching. He didn't come from a garage full of builds. His passion began where many of ours did—sitting in front of a screen playing Need for Speed. The cars, the sound, the chase—that planted the seed.
His first car was a 2004 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition—practical, reliable, and loved. But the real shift occurred when he purchased a 2007 Nissan 350Z. That Z became his first serious build: automatic-to-manual swap, widebody, full bolt-ons, tuned. It was hands-on experience that laid the groundwork for everything that followed.
The One That Chose Him
Oscar was actually hunting for a Mitsubishi Evo IX. Then Facebook Marketplace did what Facebook Marketplace does—it showed him something better.
A Midnight Purple RHD 1994 Supra popped up. Manual. Right-hand drive. 2JZ-powered.
Game over.
"It's midnight purple, RHD, and manual… and the legendary 2JZ. I just had to have it."
And this isn't just any purple. It's Midnight Purple II—a Nissan Skyline R33/R34 color. Not OEM Toyota. Not common. Not something you see every day.
That alone sets it apart. Add right-hand drive to the equation, and now people are doing double-takes at every stoplight.
Driving It Feels Like Time Travel
Oscar says driving the Supra feels like being transported back to the late '90s and early 2000s. And honestly, that makes sense.
The MK4 Supra defined an era. From street legends to big-screen fame, it became one of the most recognizable Japanese performance cars ever built.
"When I take it out, it gets a lot of attention. Maybe because I'm driving on the wrong side… or maybe people just know what it is."
It's passion first, recognition second. But it definitely turns heads.

What Makes It Unique?
Right-hand drive configuration. In America, that's already rare. Combined with Midnight Purple II—a color never offered on a Supra from the factory—this car becomes a one-of-one conversation starter.
"These are getting harder to find. If you want one, find it now."
And he's not wrong. Clean MK4s aren't getting cheaper or easier to locate.
Future Plans: 1300+ Horsepower
Oscar isn't stopping here. The goal is 1300+ horsepower from the 2JZ-GTE.
Planned upgrades include:
- Single big turbo kit from PHR
- Full PHR fuel system
- Clean-shaved engine bay
- Rare period-correct parts
He's aiming for significant power without sacrificing the car's essence. That's not just a build—that's a statement.
The Community: Stance Auto Club
Oscar rode solo for a while before linking up with Donnie Rochin and joining the Stance Auto Club.
"It's brought me new friends and helped me learn a lot about cars."
That's what this scene is supposed to do—not just flex builds, but build relationships.
Dream Car
1991 Lamborghini Diablo 30th Anniversary finished in Viola Purple.
Honestly? That tracks perfectly with the Midnight Purple Supra. Purple royalty only.
Final Thoughts
Oscar Wilkins's 1994 Toyota Supra MK4 isn't overbuilt. It isn't chasing trends. It's a legendary platform in a rare spec, owned by someone who genuinely appreciates what it represents.
A little nostalgia. A little ambition. A lot of 2JZ-GTE.
And soon? Four-digit horsepower.
From climbing utility poles in NorCal to building a right-hand drive Midnight Purple II Supra targeting 1300+ HP, Oscar proves that passion doesn't require a mechanic background—just a love for the legend, a Facebook Marketplace find at the right time, and the courage to say "I just had to have it."
Not bad for a kid who started with Need for Speed.
