Dru Green - 97’ RHD Honda Civic EK4

I am an engineer by trade but in my spare time I am everything to do with car customising. I do it all from fabrication, body work and painting to engine and suspension work. I do all my own work mostly because I grew up not being able to pay someone to do it for me!

Hi all,

My name is Dru Green from Chickamauga GA and I currently drive a 97’ RHD Honda Civic EK4. I am an engineer by trade but in my spare time I am everything to do with car customising. I do it all from fabrication, body work and painting to engine and suspension work. I do all my own work mostly because I grew up not being able to pay someone to do it for me!

I have found that doing everything myself not only brings me a great pride and joy in my build but other people seem to really respect your car more. My very first car that I started working on was a 1978 Camaro from when I was 8, I later moved on and purchased more Camaros and Firebirds only to trade a 1968 Firebird for my very first Honda! A 1988 CRX SI, I have been into imports ever since. It was a dream of mine to own a Jap Honda from there and now I owe the EK4 as well as a 91’ SiR CR-X Mugen Pro2.

I grew up around cars, with my dad wrenching away all the time making his cars unique and a work of art all of his own so you could say that really got me into cars and the scene. One of the biggest things that makes mine unique is the fact that the front clip was imported from Japan, there aren’t many right hand drives here in the USA so I am defiantly the only EK in my area! Awesome right? The other unique aspect I would say is that I spent a lot of time painting the engine bay galaxy, I pretty much did it just as you would spray and paint art. It just took much more time than painting a poster board as it was the whole engine bay! I finished it off with a 2kEurothane clear coat which makes it a durable and slick shinny finish which seems to really take people by surprise when I tell them that it is spray paint under the hood.

I chose a stance build for this project, only because I am attracted to the look and it’s perfect for a JDM Honda to be sitting so low and cambered. I love going through drive troughs backwards and having conversations at stop lights when I am out in public. One piece of advice I have for anyone who is wanting a car so unique is not to be shy, only because this car turns heads and starts conversations everywhere I go even if it’s just stopping for some gas.

I am currently a founder of 3amBoyz (Instagram: @3amBoyzz) and owner of Chattanooga Car Club (Instagram: @ChattanoogaCarClub). I attend all the local events and shows as well as the local car meets and cruise in’s. SLAMMEDENUF is one of my favourites only because they showcase cars that are low and flashy just the way I like them! I have got a lot of great connections and friends in the local car community including my best friend and running buddy Tayler (Instagram: @TWRX_TAY). She has done a lot of my photography and cut majority of my stickers. She also likes my joke about Stickers being just like tattoos but for your car therefore, you can never have too many and they all tell a personal side to who you are as a person.

I know every gear head has a ‘DREAM CAR’ but, I would have to say that I have a lot of dream cars but, I really hope that one can I can own a Honda NSX and also a MK4 Supra, I am really nostalgic on 90’s Japanese cars. Also another dream of mine would be to own a shop that fits all my projects as well as a garage to store all my finished customs to display when they are parked at home.

Future plans for the Civic includes ditching the D16Y8 for a B20 turbo build, racing seats and carbon fibre hood. Eventually, maybe I will install a Pandum wide body kit and bag it but, only time will tell! Like I said, I have got a lot of other projects which are enough to keep me busy and out of trouble for a long time. The current state of the car is enough to keep me satisfied and happy because as I mentioned before, it seems to be a fan favourite. All people young and old, male and female, they all love my work and that always makes me proud to be able to achieve what I do. I build cars to my personal taste so if someone gets a kick out of it that truly makes me happy.

I would like to personally thank Stance Auto Magazine and StanceAuto.co.uk for reaching out to me and providing me with the opportunity to show off my ride to others across the pond.

For all my pictures as well as progress to come, follow me on Instagram on @DRUCIFERGREEN and also my best friend and personal photographer @TWRX_TAY, she does amazing work and you can tell she is a true car enthusiast much like myself. She also owns a 2018 WRX we continue to modify and separate from the crowd with each passing project.

Thank you for reading my article,

Dru
