Capturing Automotive Beauty: Johnny AKA Kid Tweak's Stunning Car Sketches

Hey everyone my name is Johnny, AKA Kid Tweak. I want to start off by saying that I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to tell you a story about a guy with a passion for art and cars. I guess my story begins when I was born in Panama City, Panama and grew up for the most part of my life in a small military town in Georgia.

God Given Talent

My God-given talent was first recognized when I was first introduced to Street art and the Graffiti culture. I am a Digital Illustrator, Photographer, Animator, Graphic Designer, Entrepreneur, and more. I create beautiful illustrations of the most amazing cars on social media. I combine abstract colours with stylistic line art that makes real life in most of my compositions stand out. I am creative through and through. I have a different perspective on how I merge art with the automotive industry.

I got my start in 2010 when I officially transitioned from Traditional Art to Digital. I picked my first tablet and started using Medibang; paint illustrating my favourite cars at the time. It was a horrible and cheap tablet, but it worked fine for what it was. I started off by drawing my friends' cars and photoshopping photos of famous cars on the internet.

As you can see in all my work I have the word “FOES”. It is essentially a lifestyle brand that encourages the Freedom Of Expressing Style. I had various stages of how my art style developed.

An Artist Worse Critic

As an artist, you are your own worst critic and I was determined to level up my illustrative skills every year and continue drawing multiple Instagram famous cars. Over time I gained a massive loyal following that motivated me to continue to feed them “FOES” content.

My presence in the automotive industry started getting traction and companies such as ZOCIETY, BornTODIE, Deviant USA, Honja and others wanted me to create logos and much more for them.

I grew up in a torn family which affected a good portion of my life. I grew up with a not-so-understanding father who believed in art and had more differences than similarities. But I still love the man for teaching me the importance of maintaining a close relationship with God through Jesus. Moms always pushed me to become the artist I am today. She is my number 1 fan and my biggest supporter to this day.

Pursuing my Bachelor in Fine Arts

For as long as I can remember, school has never been my strong suit. I will find it almost impossible to not open one of my sketchbooks to sketch my new graffiti idea or some race car and not pay attention to class. Currently, I'm pursuing my Bachelor in Fine Arts at Columbus State University in hopes that that expensive piece of paper blesses me with the opportunity to finally land my dream creative job and make a comfortable living to continue to fund my art and automotive passion.

Life as a College student, Muralist, Freelance Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Photographer, and business owner and still pulling a mundane part-time job at the Home Depot is not an easy lifestyle. Although it can be very stressful at times, I use motivation from my amazing fanbase to continue to push out dope art and continue to feed them.

“FOES” is currently worldwide nationwide and is easily known in the stance car community. My art paved the way for the merge of the beauty of stance and race cars and art. Copycats of my art style are easily recognized and pointed out quickly.

A passage from the Bible

My advice to aspiring business owners is to start off by taking elements of everything that inspires you in life and putting them into a melting pot. Take it out and then ask yourself what can do to improve on this and if is it something that will bring you happiness. Having a small business should at its core be fulfilling and should motivate you to build upon your business.

The coolest experience in my line of work is just meeting the amazing like-minded creative and talented people who have followed my art throughout the years. Mostly I have been blessed to see some of their crazy cool builds in person other than staring at a picture for hours at a time illustrating it on my iPad. Connecting, and sharing stories and memories through cars and art is the motivation for me to get better and better at my craft. I don't consider what I do as work when I paint or illustrate cars.

A passage from the Bible, which is also my favourite quote is, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” - Psalm 27:1. If you really want something in life, just need to stay focused and not ever let fear stop you from greatness.

The freedom of expressing style is dormant in all of us and should apply it to every aspect of our lifestyle. Nowadays people build their cars and follow trends because they fear being different and being judged by others. Even creatives are often afraid to show their art because they think it's not good enough. Sharing ideas and feelings should not be determined by what others think.

From cars to art; let your creativity run wild. In today's world, everyone claims to be different but still manages to blend in with popular trends and not be so different after all. So I won't tell you to be different but only be passionate for what you love in life, it'll bring you peace and happiness. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Oh, and put God first before anything.
