My name is Charlie I’m 23 and from Derbyshire, and I own and run CM Illustrations. I have been self-employed drawing vehicles from all walks of life for over 3 years and it’s the best job ever for a car enthusiast as it means I get to spend my day drawing and looking at loads of different modified cars (I have also drawn standard cars as well!). When I’m not drawing cars I’m often practising techniques or drawing pets!

Driven by my love for the automotive industry, I have a huge passion for all vehicle makes and models. I attend a lot of Car Shows up and down the country in my MK6 Fiesta ZS. I've grown up around cars so they have been a very important part of my life. So it's safe to say cars are my obsession, in life and in my artwork.

About Media Memories

Media memories was inspired by our beautiful rescue dog, Sasha who is sadly no longer with us. I found that I was able to capture a memory of her in a portrait and it is something I will always cherish. I started to draw other pets to capture their memory and provide you with a portrait that you will cherish too.

I work 7 days a week creating various commissions and content for my social media pages, so yes, this is my job, but definitely also my hobby. I live and breathe everything automotive!

I started drawing when I was really young and I started making digital art about 5 years ago, however, I didn’t take it seriously until 2019 when I became self-employed. Originally I started out drawing pets and I expanded to cars when a family friend asked me to draw their car.

I’ve always wanted to do something in the creative field, and I’ve always had a huge passion for art and cars so it made sense to combine the two! But it was only in 2019 did I quit my job to pursue my art as a career, and I’ve been self-employed ever since.

In the beginning, I was working with ink and graphite/coloured pencils on paper. I found with practice, I could take a photograph for reference and draw what I saw on paper with surprising results.

I made traditional art for a long time, but it always made such a mess, took up a lot of space and I had to buy supplies all the time. Until one year my parents bought me my first iPad and I tried digital art for the first time and it seemed like the perfect solution to me and I loved it right from the start! I was impressed at how much more detail and depth I could add to my drawings.

Fast forward in time and I am now a self-employed digital artist. All my commissions are digitally hand drawn using my Apple iPad and Apple Pencil, I draw and add detail exactly the same way (by hand) the only difference is my iPad is now my paper and my Apple Pencil can be whatever medium I choose.

My styles are still evolving and I spend many hours digitally drawing whether it is for commissions or practice pieces I have no formal training in art which is something I get asked frequently. My answer is that I only did GCSE-level art and then game design in college. So apart from these two aspects
