From Humble Beginnings to Automotive Dreams

My name is Brian Ulrich, and I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. At the age of 16, my first job was at Whataburger, which I did for a summer job between my junior and senior years before starting a career in the golf business. I worked for the city of Corpus Christi at both locally owned golf courses. After living and working there for 25 years, I found a new home in West Texas and moved to Odessa, TX, where I continued my career path at Ratliff Ranch as an Assistant Golf Professional.

Embarking on an Entrepreneurial Journey

After 5 years in Odessa, TX, I learned a bit about the oil and gas business and realized that starting a small business wouldn't be too difficult, considering I met most of my customers at the golf course where I worked. In October 2011, I started a trucking company with one truck and a 20-foot trailer, and today, I have over 40 owner-operators hauling pipe and other drilling rig equipment.

A Passion for Cars and the Import Scene

My first car was a 1987 Nissan 300ZX 5-speed manual. A couple of friends I grew up with just so happened to be in the import scene. This was back in 1999, so the import scene was hot at the time, and I instantly fell in love with the car scene and never looked back. My favorite car at the time was a 99-00 Civic SI in electric blue. Never did get that car, though.

Realizing the Dream: Owning a Lamborghini

Right now, I have a 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. Since I was young, I always wanted a Lamborghini with the iconic doors that go up. The sound of the V12 and the vertical doors – need I say more? But I knew I was going to own a Lamborghini sometime in my life, and well, here we are.

Unleashing the Beast: Turbocharging the Aventador SVJ

After buying this Aventador from Lamborghini Austin, the first thing I had to do was get a Gintani F1 exhaust and do a DME stage 2 tune. Once that was done and driving around for a couple of months, a friend reached out to me and said a shop called Boost Logic in Austin would love to do a stage 1 turbo system on my SVJ. They hadn't done one yet, seeing as how the car is quite rare, and some people are hesitant to do it.

The Turbocharged Transformation

I owned a twin-turbo Huracan Performante built by Dallas Performance, and that experience was incredible. That sound and the power that gets delivered – you can't describe it. So, the owner at Boost Logic made me a good price deal but would need the car for 8-10 months to perfect the kit and tune. Now, this sounds like a long time, but they can now make kits faster, so I'm sure the turnaround is half that time. Zohair always gave me updates, and the crew there was great, very professional, and I would recommend them for further projects.

Living the Dream and Looking Ahead

I love taking this car out at least twice a week and hearing the turbos spool up and the V12. Thinking back to years past, I would never have imagined it possible. I'm part of the Lamborghini club of San Antonio and look forward to working with the new Lamborghini dealership opening here in San Antonio. The shop is amazing, and so are the people who work there, and I would highly recommend checking them out. As far as future plans for the car, I'm debating whether or not to build the engine and transmission to handle more power or leave it the way it is. Only time will tell. This is my ultimate dream car for me.
