Hi all,

My name is Justin and I am a banker by day and car builder + YouTube vlogger by night!

I currently reside in Austin, Texas. I grew up on the sunny island of Singapore and did not really take an interest in cars growing up because I was not exposed to the car scene and also because cars were so expensive back home! A regular Honda Civic Sedan would cost USD$150,000 which is insane! I moved to the US in 2013 for school and decided to stay here to work after that. Over the course of a few years that I have been here, I was exposed to car events like car meets, car shows, track days and I was hooked! I became really passionate about cars, especially the tuner JDM platform and decided that I wanted to have my cars participate in car shows and track days. It was around 2015 when I became more serious in my car builds and also picked up a camera and started making videos on YouTube. My channel is called The J Media and I upload new videos every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 9am CST! I have been making videos for 5 years and I document my car builds and events I go to on the YouTube channel! You can also check out my other social media pages like the following:

I currently drive a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer GT that is my show car and occasional track car as well as a 2003 Acura RSX that I lightly modify as my daily driver.

The first car that I owned got me into the car scene and going to local car meets and track days. It was a 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe. My friend took me to a car meet when I first moved to the US back in 2013. It was a classic car meet and I recall the older guys at the meet being so passionate about their cars. I went on Google the next day to type in "Austin, Texas car meets" and went to a few local car meets. Met some cool people at the meets and they invited me out to more car events and the rest is history!

In terms of car stats, I am not sure what my numbers are since I never had the car on a dyno. The car is currently undergoing "surgery" to get more power by putting in cams, a bigger throttle body, as well as a turbo upgrade. Might get some numbers after that!

I try to do most of the work either by myself or with the help of some buddies. I am not a mechanic by trade so my knowledge is lacking in some areas but I try to learn more every day! If it is something that my buddies and I are not able to tackle, then I bring it by my trusted local shop, ‘Long's Automotive’ to get it done. I also have all my DIY and installation videos on my YouTube channel, The J Media, so make sure to check them out!

I am pretty picky with whom I get to work on my car and definitely only trust shops that are highly recommended by friends and I have previously worked with. The two shops I work with are ‘Long's Automotive’ (formerly 5 star Auto) and ‘Guicho's Body Shop’. I believe that what you pay is what you get and sometimes a cheap job might not mean a good job.

My Mitsubishi Lancer GT was not my first car and definitely not my first rodeo building a car. I had a few other cars before that and eventually got my 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer GT. I bought the car brand new back in November 2015 to use it for Uber. I stopped driving people around in my car after a few months and decided to build it! There was no turning back once I decided to build it as a no expense spared show car and the goal is to have it featured in magazines and win awards at car shows!

My first car was a 1999 Honda Civic EX Coupe. I knew nothing about cars when I got the car but thankfully the car does have a huge aftermarket tuning platform! I started modifying it and it was a great car. I had it for 6 years and sold it eventually because I had a really good cash offer to buy it.

I believe that a project is never truly finished. It is an endless project! The car is more or less reaching its final form after the turbo upgrade and revamp of the engine bay. That should be done around summer 2020 since it is at the shop being built now. As for other plans, I might do a colour change in the future by wrapping the car and possibly taking the rear seats out and having a roll cage in. I also want a different wing set up and have my eyes on a Voltex carbon fibre wing.

I don't really follow groups or clubs but I do like to read magazines like Superstreet and SpeedHunters for build inspirations!

I do indeed attend car shows. I started going to car shows with my 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer GT back in 2017. Here is a list of awards that it has won over the few years competing:

2018

  • Texas Heat Wave (2ndBest Import)
  • Wekfest Texas (Best Mitsubishi)
  • Clean Car Alliance (2ndBest Mitsubishi)

2019 –

  • Tuned Originals (2ndBest Mitsubishi)
  • Import Expo (2ndBest Mitsubishi)
  • Racewars (Best Mitsubishi)
  • Clean Culture Texas (Top 25)

2020 –

  • Wekfest Texas (Best Mitsubishi)

I have been to a bunch of different car events ever since I got into cars. I go to my local car meets often and also compete in car shows all across my state since 2017. Besides car meets and car shows, I have also taken my car on a couple of track days at Circuit of the Americas and Driveway Austin. I would like to say that my car is a show car which occasionally does track days. I have also been to other car events like time attack, drag racing and drifting to spectate.

I would have to say my absolute dream car would be an R34 Skyline GTR in Midnight purple sitting on some OG bronze TE37 wheels and a huge carbon fibre Voltex wing at the back. I absolutely love how those cars look and it is the epitome of a tuner car! It has great power, handles like a dream and looks good! An R35 GTR and a NA1 NSX would be my other two choices if I could pick more.

I would like to thank Carla for the opportunity to have my car featured in Stance Auto! I would also like to thank all my friends and shops who have helped me with my build over the years. Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who has been following me on my YouTube channel as well as Instagram since day one!
