A Teenager's Love Affair
I first laid eyes on it as a teenager, and it was love at first sight. The 2009 FOCUS Mk2 RS had my heart racing with its sleek lines and powerful presence. But it was when I stumbled upon a station wagon version with a body kit that I thought, "Why not put a 5-cylinder engine in there?"
Saving for the Dream
My journey began after school in 2016 when I embarked on an apprenticeship at Ford. With every paycheck, I squirreled away money, my dreams of owning that Focus RS becoming more attainable.
2020: A New Chapter
Then, in 2018, an opportunity knocked on my door. I was offered a chance to buy a Focus Mk2 Wagon S for a bargain. The only catch? It had seen better days, with a sagging suspension and a faulty engine. Fast forward to 2020, and a new chapter unfolded. I had completed my training in January, which meant more financial freedom. It was time to breathe new life into the Focus.
Revamping the Focus
The transformation began with a new exhaust system that made the car growl with power. A sleek front grille and modern headlights were next on the list, giving the car a more aggressive look. To top it off, I upgraded the interior with authentic RS parts, making every drive an exhilarating experience.
The Lucky 2022
But the real magic happened in 2022. I decided to take my newly enhanced Focus to a few meet-ups. To say people were impressed would be an understatement. The station wagon turned heads and raised eyebrows, as such a sight was a rarity. Enthusiasts at these gatherings offered tips for further improvements, but one thing was a recurring theme: the interior looked dated.

Transforming the Interior
Back at home, I pondered the interior's transformation. The idea of returning it to the standard gray didn't resonate with me. So, I embarked on a mission to turn everything black, with some additional tweaks like ambient lighting and a starry sky effect. The transformation was a game-changer, and the outdated interior was now a unique blend of style and innovation.
The Quest for Performance
Yet, one issue remained, lurking under the hood. To address it, I installed a new speedometer and control unit, ensuring that my Focus Mk2 RS was not just a looker but also a performer.
The Enthusiast Scene
As I delved deeper into the car enthusiast scene, I found it to be like a big family. Here, you could openly discuss problems, seek advice on renovations, and exchange ideas on what you could change. The camaraderie and shared passion made this journey even more fulfilling.

A Bright Future Ahead
Looking ahead, my future plans for the Focus are nothing short of ambitious. I aspire to convert it into a Focus RS with a 5-cylinder engine, giving it a monstrous power boost. A wide-body conversion is also on the horizon, making the car even more formidable. And, with dreams of participating in events like the Ford Fair and RS meet at the Nürburgring in 2024, the journey continues to unfold.
In conclusion, my 2009 FOCUS Mk2 RS has transformed from a dream to reality, and it's still evolving. Stay tuned as I share every twist and turn of this automotive adventure with Stance Auto Magazine, and together, we'll explore the world of car customization and passion.
