Kims - BMW Z3

People always ask why a z3 it's ugly ! A z4 is much prettier and I always give the same response, the z3s were built to go fast from the box, the z4s were made for hairdressers... And I'm not a hairdresser

Kim from pembs in sunny Wales, I'm a support worker for mencap

I drive a BMW Z3 with a few choice mods, always wanted one when I was a kid so now they're cheap as chips I got one

When I was a youngster I watched the fast and the furious and played need for speed underground, I was part of the generation that grew up in the max power era, still the greatest era in my humble opinion when cars were modded to be an extension of your personality and not just pop and bang maps for the hell of it..

The z3 isn't the souper dooper make you pooper model, it's the 2.0 which isn't insanely fast but has some poke from the box, at least enough for me, having worked for BMW in the past I knew what the z3 needed to take it from mediocre to nippy and fun,

Mods included lowering it and stiffening it, changing the induction and adding a wing, z3s need a wing! And front canards with a nice high flow backbox for the roar, When we got it home me and Loz (co owner) immediately started to mod it to the disgust of our neighbors who bore witness to us taking drills and grinders to a classic, one of our neighbors was singing let it be as we ripped the boot off to mount the spoiler

This isn't the first time i've owned a modded car. We've had all-sorts from max power meganes to mad max Micra's with James Bond style rockets mounted on it and shark teeth... It was a thing to behold

Might surprise you to know my first car wasn't a car as such but an old Leyland Sherpa van, a few weeks of driving that made me realise I needed something with a bit more poke and that's when I bought the Renault that would cement my love of cars.. I went to college and learnt mechanics and used their workshop to modify the living shit out of it! After all this was the era of max power magazines and she was the jewel in the crown of the coupe club!

The z3 isn't there yet, she needs a exhaust switch valve which will electronically control a cat bypass system, a remap and a hardtop with a cage... (I have flipped a convertible in the past and although the accident was epic I was lucky to walk away without a scratch) we have some rather perky 19s in graphite grey to go on also and will probably fit poly bushes just to tighten her up even more, I want to be able to throw it into corners at ludicrous speeds (on a track of course)

I'm a member of a few local car clubs, west coast JDM being one of them... Despite the z3 being a German car, Although I do go to shows when I get the chance I've never entered a car competition not even when I had the Mégane !

My dream car... I own it.. granted it's not perfect yet but when I'm finished I'll be a happy little bunny
