Behind the Wheel of an RWB Porsche: A Unique Passion for Cars
I am Sam, the founder of Sam's Detailing, based in Sheffield. You might have seen me in those persistent ads on your feed, passionately convincing you to replace your drying towel with one of my own.
I launched Sam's Detailing back in 2013, and now, a decade later, we stand as one of the leading detailing brands in the United Kingdom, with stockists spanning the globe.
But let's talk about something that got all of us interested in cars and the car scene – what sparked your passion?
For me, it was in my blood. My father was a petrolhead who took me to motor shows and car-related events from a young age. This exposure ignited my lifelong interest in cars. After passing my driving test, I had that typical 17-year-old attitude – driving my car at all hours and learning to fix it myself, so I wouldn't have to rely on workshops. This marked the beginning of my tool collection, my car obsession, and my growing interest in detailing.
Now, you might wonder, why did I choose this RWB Porsche 964 ?
Simply put, I adore 911s; they're iconic and, to me, perfect. I also have a deep fascination with Japanese car culture and their overall way of life. Throw in my love for Need For Speed, where crazy car builds know no boundaries, and you arrive at my undeniable passion for RWB Porsches.
Owning and driving this car is an incredible experience. While some may dismiss it as just a body kit, considering the upgrade in the floor pan – 13J in the rear and 10.5J in the front – you'd realize how it significantly enhances stability and handling. Pushing this car through corners now feels more stable, and the overall feel is firmly "planted" to the ground.
So, what makes your RWB Porsche 964 truly unique?
With RWB Porsches, the kits are exclusively manufactured, sold, and fitted by Akira Nakai. To embark on this journey, you must place your order directly with Nakai or through their official distributors. Once approved for an RWB build, the kit is shipped to you. Then, the real work begins – preparing the car, painting the kit, and finally, requesting Nakai-San himself to come to your location. Nakai-san flies in and fits the entire kit to your car within 1-2 days.
To the best of my knowledge, this entire process is unique to Akira Nakai, making each RWB build a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and in limited supply.

The RWB Porsche 964 Work
The RWB conversion was completed by Akira Nakai himself, who flew in from Japan on May 13th, 2023, to Sam's Detailing HQ in Sheffield. The entire build was completed within 2 days. All other aspects of the work were done by me gradually over the past 5 years of ownership.
As for future plans, I'm content with the build for now. However, I do plan to bore the engine out further to a 4.0 to unleash even more power coming out of corners. After all, a little more power can't hurt, and it offers a great alternative to a turbo kit.
Shout Outs
I'd like to give a shout-out to some great folks and accounts on Instagram who have been a part of this journey:
The Car Scene
Lastly, the car scene means different things to different people. Some seek new friends, love, or a chance to fuel their passion for cars. Others just want to show off or find the best food caterers. In my case, I seek all of these experiences.
And when it comes to my dream car, it's an RWB Porsche.
