Ramiro Sangco - 1999 Porsche Carrera 911 996 997 GT3 RS Conversion

When the opportunity to buy a Porsche 911 presented itself, I know I had to do it. I bought the car.  Within a month, this beautiful car that I bought did not look the same. I was on a mission to transform this car into something special for SEMA 2018.

My name is Ramiro Sangco and I am the owner of Modjunkies Motorsports, based in Southern California.  I have been in the car scene for over 20 years.  My interest in the car scene started when I was in high school in the late 80s, early 90s.  Import street racing was very popular in SoCal during this time.

Shortly after I graduated high school, I started to work for a company that was focused on aftermarket car accessories.  Since that first job, I held several positions within many companies throughout the years.  Eventually, I opened my own business known as Modjunkies Motorsports.

Building a car really brought me immense joy. It is truly a labour of love. The challenge of taking a stock car and turning it into something so unique and special really drove my passion for the car scene.  Many of my project cars include Nissan, Mazda, Acura, and of course Honda. Eventually, I found myself inf the Euro space so the list of project cars continued with Mercedes Benz, BMW, and now Porsche.

I have always dreamed of having a Porsche 911. When I was in high school, I would always joke around with my friends saying that my Mitsubishi Mirage was my Porsche. When the opportunity to buy a Porsche 911 presented itself, I know I had to do it. I bought the car.  Within a month, this beautiful car that I bought did not look the same. I was on a mission to transform this car into something special for SEMA 2018.

Owning this car, makes me reminisce of my younger days when I owned a Honda Del Sol.  The way that I loved that Honda Del Sol is the exact same feeling I have for my Porsche.  Except this Porsche is way more fun; especially since it is a convertible. The best type of car to drive in Southern California!  The makers of Porsche said it best; "there is no substitute."

Being in the car scene has allowed me to have an outlet where I can be among others who have the same passion as me. Because of this scene, I have made some awesome friendships that I keep very close to my heart. My hope for the car scene is that those that have been in the game for a while will guide the new generation the right way.

Advice/Tips

My advice to a person who is just starting on the build of his/her car is to take your time and do what you feel is right. Don't care about what others have to say about your car. It's your car; it's your build. That is my mantra every time I start a project car. For this particular build, I focused on the interior of my car. I know that's what makes my Porsche so different from others.

As for my dream car, that's always a question I get asked often. I don't know if I can say I have one. As long as that car brings a smile to my face as I drive away is important to me.  Then again…there's always room for a Ferrari in my dreams.
