The Owner: Passion and Heritage
My name is Jeffery Pan, and I’m the proud owner of Neo Autoworks, a shop that has become a cornerstone of the Bay Area car community. My journey began over 20 years ago, fueled by a deep passion for cars and motorsports.
Motorsports, especially WRC rally racing, have always shaped the way I approach builds. The grit, speed, and precision of rally cars inspired me to push the limits of my own projects. I’ve owned both a Subaru STI and a Mitsubishi Evolution, but the Evo has always resonated with me more. Its aggressive styling and racing pedigree feel timeless—designed to dominate both the streets and the track.
Thanks to the support of our customers and community, Neo Autoworks has expanded to two locations—Oakland and San Jose—where we continue building cars that inspire enthusiasts.
Why the Mitsubishi Evo X Final Edition?
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Final Edition represents the end of an era. With its rally-bred AWD system, turbocharged 2.0L engine, and cult following, the Evo X has cemented itself as one of the most iconic JDM performance cars.
For me, this particular Evo wasn’t just another project. It was a chance to create a build that embodied my personal journey, my shop’s vision, and my admiration for the Evo legacy.
The Varis Widebody Dream
One of the biggest inspirations behind this build was the Varis widebody kit. I’ve always admired Varis for their balance of aerodynamics and aggressive styling. For this Evo, we pushed things even further:
-
Varis Version 2 Wide Body Aero Kit
-
Varis Front Bumper Ver.3 with Lip
-
Varis Hyper Canards
-
Varis Cooling Bonnet Hood Ver.2
-
Varis 1600mm Euro Edition Wing
To complement the wide stance, the car sits on Work Meister S1 3P wheels (19x11) finished in glossy bronze, wrapped in 285/30/19 Hankook Evo 2 V12 tires. The stance is aggressive yet functional, perfect for shows and spirited drives.
And then there’s the paint. Ruby Star Neo with a bright red metallic flake. It’s bold, vivid, and unapologetic—balanced by custom purple-carbon accents. Paired with the contrasting Atlantis Blue Evo X also in my collection, these cars are yin and yang—two visions in harmony.
Performance and Tuning
Beneath the artistry, this Evo is a performance machine. Built to deliver 437 WHP and 457 WTQ, the setup blends reliability with serious power:
-
MAP v-band cast manifold & downpipe
-
PTE 5858 V-band turbo
-
FIC 1100cc injectors
-
ETS 3" FMIC & intercooler piping
-
HKS Super Turbo Catback exhaust
-
Built 2.0L with Manley Turbo Tuff I-beams & CP pistons (86.5mm, .5 over)
-
GSC S2 cams, titanium springs, ARP head studs
-
Flex fuel dyno tuned by Works Motorsports in Sonoma
The end result? A build that’s as ready for the track as it is for a show floor spotlight.
Interior and Custom Touches
Inside, the Evo X carries both function and flair:
-
Amuze titanium shift knob
-
TWM short shifter cage
-
Takata harnesses
-
Auto Power race roll bar
-
Status Racing seats
-
Prism Beam RGB headlights & taillights
The cabin reflects the dual identity of the car—performance-focused yet styled for individuality.
The Philosophy Behind the Build
For me, this build isn’t just about horsepower or widebody styling. It’s about creating something that reflects my philosophy at Neo Autoworks: merging craftsmanship, heritage, and creativity into a single vision.
When people see this car, I don’t just want them to admire the details. I want them to feel inspired—motivated to chase their own dream builds, just like motorsport once inspired me.
Future Plans
The Evo X Final Edition is far from finished. Future goals include:
-
Attending more car shows and track events
-
Continuing to refine both performance and aesthetics
-
Showcasing it alongside the Atlantis Blue Evo X to complete the Neo Autoworks vision
