"This car has been my inspiration. First motor I built myself! First car I put a full fuel system in. First car to learn wiring on. This car had a lot of firsts for me." – Elijah Jefferson

The Grandfather Who Sparked Everything

Elijah Jefferson is from Denver, Colorado. At 30 years old, he details cars for a living because he enjoys wrenching as a hobby. "All my life I've been into cars, and I owe that to my grandfather. Sadly, he didn't get to see my spark for cars because he passed when I was younger. But I'm here just building something great for me."

"My grandfather was definitely the spark that got me into cars," Elijah says. "My best friends Corie and Blake are the ones who turned that spark into a flame!"

From Grand Prix GTP to G8 GT: A Pontiac Journey

"I've always been a Pontiac fan," Elijah explains. "I started with Grand Prix GTP, then the GXP version. This was the next big step."

The 2009 Pontiac G8 GT represents the culmination of that journey—and the platform where Elijah finally pushed himself to learn everything on his own.

A Car Full of Firsts

"This car has been my inspiration," Elijah says. "First motor I built myself! Always had my friends help, but not this time. First car I put a full fuel system in. First car I've had a legit air ride setup on. First car to learn wiring on. This car had a lot of firsts for me."

Those firsts weren't easy. Building your first motor solo, installing a complete fuel system, learning proper wiring, and setting up air suspension all require patience, research, and the willingness to make mistakes and learn from them. But that's exactly what Elijah did—and the result is a car that's entirely his.

Not Your Typical Straight-Line Muscle Car

"I believe my car is unique because I don't do the straight-line build like everybody else does with this platform," Elijah explains. "My car has style with the power aspect. I enjoy taking this car out of state for shows. I love seeing the expressions it brings people because it is different than your typical straight-line muscle car G8 build."

The KPMF iridescent red-black wrap that Elijah did himself in his garage, the Weds Kranze 3-piece wheels custom-built for the car, the carbon accents inside and out, and the custom air suspension setup—everything is designed to blend show-car aesthetics with serious power.

"The color that I chose for the wrap, the wheel setup—everything is just me!"

What It's Like to Drive

"Driving the car is the best experience," Elijah says. "It's smooth, but you still feel everything. It handles amazingly. It's everything I've ever wanted out of a car."

That balance between power and refinement is the holy grail for any street car. The 750 HP is there when you want it, but the custom air suspension and chassis setup mean it doesn't drive like a stripped-out drag car. It's a car Elijah can enjoy on long drives to out-of-state shows without sacrificing the performance that makes it exciting.

Who Did the Work?

"The work was done by myself or my friends Blake, Anthony, or Corie. They helped and pushed me to get to where I'm at with the car."

The difference with this build compared to Elijah's previous cars? "First motor I built myself! Always had my friends help, but not this time." While his crew was there for support and encouragement, the technical work—especially the motor build—was Elijah pushing himself to the next level.

Future Plans

"Future plans: built trans, roll cage, and more power. Maybe a different color, lol."

With the 91mm turbo upgrade already on the horizon, Elijah isn't stopping at 750 HP. A built transmission will handle the additional power, and a roll cage will add both safety and chassis rigidity as the power climbs.

As for the wrap? "Maybe a different color" suggests he might eventually move on from the iridescent red-black—but considering he wrapped it himself in his garage, whatever comes next will likely be just as personal and hands-on.

The Friends Who Turned Spark Into Flame

Throughout the build, Elijah credits his core crew: Blake, Anthony (@toolowtony), and Corie (@gutlessg8). "They helped and pushed me to get to where I'm at with the car."

In the car world, having friends who push you to go further, learn more, and attempt things you've never done before is invaluable. They're the ones who show up when the motor needs to come out, who answer late-night questions about wiring, and who celebrate when it all finally comes together.

Dream Car

"I have my dream car. But if a Tourer V would be in my dream garage next to my G8."

Final Thoughts

From watching his grandfather work on cars before he passed, to starting with a Grand Prix GTP, to building his first motor solo in a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT now making 750 HP—Elijah Jefferson's journey is about honoring the past while pushing himself into the future.

"My grandfather was definitely the spark that got me into cars. My best friends Corie and Blake are the ones who turned that spark into a flame." Now, with a supercharged LS3, custom air suspension, Weds Kranze 3-piece wheels, and an iridescent wrap he installed himself in his garage, Elijah has created exactly what he set out to build: something great for himself.

"I don't do the straight-line build like everybody else does with this platform. My car has style with the power aspect." With a 91mm upgrade, built trans, and roll cage on the horizon, that combination of style and power is only getting stronger.
