"I wanted to sell the car and build something else, but I could never bring myself to go to the DMV and remove her name from the title… so I kept the car." – Anthony Gallegos
From Lowriders to Tuners: A Colorado Story
Anthony Gallegos grew up in Thornton, Colorado, building lowriders in the garage with his dad. "We moved around throughout the years, eventually landing in Brighton, Colorado, where I started to dive deep into the tuner culture and finally get my hands on some newer cars!"
"I think we can all say that Fast and the Furious had a big impact on our young minds, but in conjunction with that, my dad and I would work on cars almost every weekend of my childhood unless we were at car shows," Anthony recalls. "The culture and atmosphere of a true family brought together by one thing always kept me hooked!"
The Car He Couldn't Sell: Mom's Name on the Title
Anthony got the WRX in 2019 when he was tired of driving unreliable cars that broke. "It was the first and only car I ever financed with the help of my parents, and having my first turbo car was a blast. When I got the car, since my parents helped me with the loan, my mom was on the title as well."
In late 2021, Anthony's mom fell ill with COVID-19, which eventually damaged her lungs to the point one collapsed, and she wasn't able to recover.
"I wanted to sell the car and build something else, but I could never bring myself to go to the DMV and remove her name from the title… so I kept the car and did a few bolt-ons."
LS Fest East: The Moment Everything Changed
In 2023, Anthony's friends Elijah and Blake took him to LS Fest East, where he rode in his first boosted LS cars. "I was amazed at what real power felt like, and I decided then that I would do a cheap and easy turbo LS swap on the WRX!"
After a few months, the car got some scary check engine lights he wasn't ready to deal with, so he decided to start then and rip the engine out. "Eventually I ended up working at Rains Precision Motorsports and learned I didn't want a budget swap anymore and went all in."
They built the engine and got it ready to drop into the car after a year of being torn down.
The Hellcat Supercharger Discovery
"One day I was scrolling Instagram and came across a friend of Elijah's that was putting a Hellcat supercharger on his Chevy SS, and I was amazed," Anthony explains. "After a few questions on how it worked, I told my boss Glenn about it, and he said he would give me a supercharger to do it if I was for real! So of course I said yes."
After a few viral Instagram posts, a small company called Fabworkz reached out. "They said they were making adapters, and if I hadn't already bought some, they were willing to partner with me. It all started there—from helping grow Fabworkz to partnering with other companies like ICT Billet and more!"
What Makes It Unique
"I think what really makes my car unique is I took a car that is generally built the same way every single time and really did something different—from the LS swap that's not very common on this chassis to mixing a Dodge supercharger with a GM engine and doing it in the cleanest way possible. This car has so many parts I helped develop and create one-off pieces that nobody else has yet!"

Final Thoughts
From building lowriders with his dad in Thornton to working at Rains Precision Motorsports in Brighton, Anthony Gallegos's journey with his 2010 Subaru WRX is about more than horsepower. It's about the mom whose name is still on the title, the car he couldn't bring himself to sell, and turning grief into a 900HP Hellcat supercharged LS3 swap that's heading to SEMA 2026.
"I wanted to sell the car and build something else, but I could never bring myself to go to the DMV and remove her name from the title… so I kept the car." That decision led to helping develop Fabworkz Hellcat adapters, partnering with ICT Billet, and creating one-off pieces that nobody else has yet.
"I took a car that is generally built the same way every single time and really did something different—mixing a Dodge supercharger with a GM engine and doing it in the cleanest way possible." With LS Fest East changing everything, viral Instagram posts leading to partnerships, and 98% of the work done himself, Anthony's WRX proves that sometimes the cars we can't let go of become the ones that define us.
