Born in the Stands

“Dedication and passion are all you need to reach your dreams.” – Jessie Torres

Some enthusiasts grow into car culture. Others are raised by it. For Dallas native Jessie Torres, the smell of unburnt fuel and screaming engines weren’t just background noise—they were the soundtrack of his childhood.

Most Sundays were spent at Yellow Belly Drag Strip in Grand Prairie, watching his uncle line up against local legends. The stands shook, the air burned, and Jessie absorbed every moment.

“That smell of race fuel and tire smoke — it just stuck with me,” he says. “Every Sunday we were there. I didn’t know it then, but those moments built who I am today.”

Now 29, Jessie works as a Head Mechanic in the Motor Coach Industry, where precision isn’t optional—it’s survival. But outside the shop, his passion roars louder: a sculpted, bagged 2019 Challenger Scat Pack Widebody built with intent, patience, and heart.

A Dream More Than a Decade in the Making

Every builder remembers the moment the dream began.

For Jessie, it was 2008. Dodge dropped the Challenger SRT8 and 12-year-old Jessie, making $200 a weekend, already knew:

“That was the car I wanted.”

Years later, when Dodge unveiled the Widebody Scat Pack, everything clicked. Retro silhouette, aggressive stance, modern muscle—it felt like a promise kept.

And today, that once unreachable dream sits in his garage, refined, reimagined, and unmistakably his.

Therapy on Four Wheels

Cars don’t just move us—they heal us.

“It’s therapy,” Jessie admits. “When the RPMs climb or when a kid gives you a thumbs-up… you remember why you fell in love with cars in the first place.”

He doesn’t build loud for attention. He builds clean for character.

“I’ve learned that sometimes less is more. It’s not about overdoing it. It’s about making everything flow.”

And his Scat Pack? It flows.

Community & Culture

Jessie isn’t just a builder—he’s a leader.

As President of Midnight Xociety, a Dallas-based car collective defined by unity and passion, he helps shape the scene from the ground up.

“We’re a real community,” Jessie says. “Everyone’s got each other’s back. We build, we cruise, we show — and we do it together.”

The car scene keeps him sharp. Inspired. Driven.

“Every meet, every show, there’s something new to admire. Someone else’s creativity pushes you to do better.”

Final Touches

Dream Car: Nissan GT-R R35 — where precision meets power.

Philosophy: “Dedication and passion are all you need to reach your dreams.”

Advice to New Builders:

  • Enjoy the journey — the build is yours.
  • Research before every mod.
  • Be patient — the right part can change everything.
  • And above all: simple can be powerful.

The Legacy in Motion

From the drag strip stands of his childhood to leading a car club and crafting one of the cleanest OEM+ widebodies in Dallas, Jessie Torres is proof that dreams don’t expire—they evolve. Dedication. Passion. Purpose. That’s what turns visions into driveways.

r0cean11 Photography began as a simple hobby for me—something I explored out of pure curiosity and passion. Twenty-four years later, it has grown into one of the defining parts of my life. Before stepping fully into automotive photography, I spent years building cars for SEMA. I photographed my own builds and projects long before I ever considered taking the craft seriously. That all changed when my last build was totaled; from that moment, photography became more than an interest—it became my purpose. ----------- Today, I shoot and write for Stance Auto Magazine, PASMAG, 742 Marketing Events, Super Lap Battle, Global Time Attack, RACEWORZ, and a wide range of automotive events across the United States. ----------- To me, automotive photography is more than capturing a vehicle—it’s about telling the story that lives within it. Every builder leaves a piece of themselves in their car, and my job is to honor that by showcasing their vision through my lens. ----------- You’ll find my event coverage, feature shoots, and automotive storytelling across all my platforms. I’m always open to connecting, answering questions, and collaborating with builders, enthusiasts, and fellow creatives. ----------- I am also a Partner with Stance Auto Magazine, serving as the Director of Marketing and Media. ----------- Facebook (Personal): Donald Rochin (Donnie Roc)
