Listen To The Podcast: Ryan Quintanilla's - 2021 Bagged Audi RS6 Audi Book
From Navy Veteran to Audi RS6 Enthusiast
I’m Ryan Quintanilla, a San Diego native and Navy veteran who served from 1997 to 2018. Married to my amazing wife Jannel for over 20 years, we have four wonderful kids: Joshua, Mason, Connor, and Piper. These days, I dedicate my time to helping veterans with their disability compensation through my company, Vet Claim Solutions.
Growing up as a '90s kid, my passion for cars took root with my first ride, a 1991 Honda CRX Si. I started modifying it with small upgrades like an intake, exhaust, headers, and cam. At one point, I even experimented with NOS—until I blew the motor. The Fast and Furious franchise definitely fueled my enthusiasm for the car scene. After boot camp in 1997, I swapped the D16A6 engine for a JDM B16, keeping it simple with an intake and a larger exhaust. Eventually, I sold the CRX before heading to my first duty station.
Why the 2021 Audi RS6?
Wagons have always held a special place in my heart, and the Audi RS6 was a dream car for me. In 2018, when Audi of America announced that this platform would finally come to the U.S., I promised myself that I’d own one. Fast-forward to 2021, and I made it happen—but it came at a cost. I sold my 2010 Audi A4 and my 1990 Honda CRX HF, a build that had been very close to my heart.
This RS6 stands out because it’s not just a luxury performance wagon; it’s a blank canvas for creativity. My goal was to build something unique while still respecting the car’s incredible engineering.
My Journey Through Cars
I started driving at 18 with a 1969 Mercury Cougar—my dad’s car—but I didn’t have it long. I shared a 1989 Toyota Corolla SR5 with my sister until I could save enough for my first car: the 1991 Honda CRX Si. That car started my journey into modifications.
Later, at my first duty station, I bought a brand-new 1999 Honda Civic Si in Electron Blue Pearl. I went all-out on this build with rims, a body kit, a turbo, and countless accessories. Over time, life changed. I got married, we were expecting our first child, and I traded the Civic for a 2003 Audi A4.
That A4 was my introduction to the Audi world. From there, I moved on to a 2007 Audi A4 with simple upgrades like rims and lowering springs. But my 2010 Audi A4 took things to the next level. It had a wide-body kit, upgraded turbo, air suspension, and an award-winning show setup.
I also began working on my 1990 Honda CRX HF around this time, transforming it into a JDM-inspired masterpiece. It featured a glass top, a JDM B16 engine (later upgraded to a USDM B18C with a turbo), and unique styling that made it a standout build.
Building the Bagged Audi RS6
Since acquiring the RS6, I’ve clocked over 38,000 miles and have made it entirely my own. Many RS6 owners keep their cars stock or rarely drive them, but I wanted to push boundaries. I installed a custom-made air suspension kit—the first of its kind in the U.S.—which took six months of testing and adjustments to perfect.
Some purists hate that I’ve modified such a high-end car, but I embrace the criticism. At the end of the day, this build is for me.

Challenges and Triumphs
Building on a cutting-edge platform like the RS6 has its challenges. The electronics are highly advanced, so every modification needs to integrate seamlessly with the car’s systems. The air suspension install, for instance, required extensive ECU decoding, which Pure Motorsport handled during the process.
Competing in car shows has been an inspiring experience. At my first show, I went up against another RS6 with more aesthetic modifications and lost. That only fueled my determination to push my build further.
Shoutouts and Community
The car community has given me friendships, inspiration, and opportunities to grow as a builder. I’m proud to be part of Team Ultraspeed (@team_ultraspeed) and Import Culture (@importcultureofficial). Locally, I connect with the San Diego Bagged Mafia crew (@sd_bagged_maf1a).
Special thanks to Autofashion USA for their incredible work on my build and Pure Motorsport for their expertise.
Looking Ahead
There’s still more to come for the RS6. On December 3rd, Autofashion USA will install the Darwin Pro Aero kit. I’m always brainstorming my next moves, whether it’s upgrading brakes or diving into a new project car. My dream car may have been a Lamborghini, but for now, the RS6 is everything I need and more.
