A Car Enthusiast From the Start
I'm Rosalyn Johnson—everyone calls me Roz—and I'm originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I currently live in the Orlando, Florida area, where I've been for the past 21 years. I've been into cars since I was a young girl. I really first started getting into cars and began reading Car & Driver magazines when I was in seventh grade. That early exposure to automotive culture planted a seed that's been growing ever since.
When it came time to build my dream car, I knew I wanted a four-door muscle car versus a two-door coupe. Every single inch of the car has been customized from the interior to the exterior, and from the front bumper to the trunk and rear bumper diffuser.
Why a BumbleBee Charger?
My car stands out and is unique because all four doors are vertical, and it's not your typical "Transformers BumbleBee theme car" that you would think of when you hear BumbleBee. Most people are quick to associate BumbleBee with being a Camaro from the Transformers franchise films.
However, my build is unique, it stands out, and it's memorable because it's a BumbleBee-themed Dodge Charger. This is the dream realized—taking an icon from pop culture and reimagining it on a different platform entirely.
Engine: 485HP HEMI Power
Under the hood sits the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine producing 485 horsepower from the factory. The Scat Pack already delivers serious performance straight from Dodge, and I've enhanced the exhaust note with mid and rear muffler deletes, finished with five-inch matte black exhaust tips.
The engine bay features custom work including a mural created by an artist I selected from up in Canada. It's another example of how this build spans collaboration with shops and artists across North America.
Exterior: Vertical Doors and BumbleBee Identity
The exterior immediately announces this car's identity. All four vertical doors create a dramatic entrance at any show or meet. The entire car has been wrapped and customized to match the BumbleBee theme, from the front bumper to the wrapped rear diffuser.
The wheels are custom Stark Forged two-piece units that complement the yellow and black theme while providing the premium forged construction that reduces unsprung weight. Brake Performance cross-drilled and slotted rotors pair with Brembo calipers—six-piston fronts and four-piston rears—providing stopping power worthy of the HEMI's output.
Interior: Fully Custom BumbleBee Transformation
The interior is where this build truly shines. Every surface has been touched, and the attention to detail is extraordinary.
Starting with the steering wheel, it features black carbon fiber and genuine yellow leather wrapping with Transformers BumbleBee theming. Custom-made BumbleBee seatbelts replace the factory units, while BumbleBee-themed floor mats protect the carpet.
The seating features yellow and black diamond pattern stitching on both front and rear leather seats. Yellow leather door panels feature airbrushing on the black lower plastic sections of each door panel, creating visual interest throughout the cabin.
The headrests receive powder-coated metal BumbleBee inserts and BumbleBee-themed patches for both front and rear positions. The headliner, both sun visors, and all six pillars are fully airbrushed and hand-painted, transforming the entire roof area into artwork.
Custom BumbleBee-themed vinyl-covered inserts are throughout the dash, with BumbleBee-themed center console display inserts and dual cup holder inserts completing the transformation. Even the air ride management system and trunk build follow the BumbleBee theme, ensuring consistency throughout the entire vehicle.
Suspension: Air Lift Performance 3P
The car rides on an Air Lift Performance 3P/3H air ride kit, allowing Roz to adjust ride height on the fly. This versatility means the car can sit slammed at shows, then raise up for practical driving over speed bumps and driveway entrances.
The custom BumbleBee-inspired air ride management system in the trunk showcases the air setup while maintaining the themed aesthetic that defines the entire build.
The Build Team: Collaboration Across America
Multiple custom auto shops and several installers have contributed work to BumbleBee over the past three years. From local shops and installers here in Orlando to previous installers in Jacksonville, Florida, to collaborating with various shops in California that designed various car items, to individual shops in Oklahoma, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
The mural artist for the engine bay came from Canada. This build truly represents collaboration across North America, with each shop and artist bringing their expertise to create the cohesive final product.
Sponsors and Shout Outs
Sponsors: Lighting Trenz and Vertical Doors
Shout Outs: 201 Wrap, Air Ilusions, Bag Riders, Mad Custom FL, Mr. Mom's Customs, ShowInSpecialties, and Stark Forged Wheels
Each of these partners played a role in bringing the BumbleBee vision to life.
Future Plans
I plan to get custom forged wheels added and enhance my existing car lighting by adding more exterior and interior lighting. After three years of continuous refinement, there are still ways to take BumbleBee to the next level.
Living the Dream
My dream car? This is it! I'm already driving it and living the dream. The BumbleBee Charger represents years of planning, collaboration with talented builders and artists, and the commitment to creating something truly unique in the Mopar world.
While others chose the obvious Camaro platform for BumbleBee builds, I went a different direction. The four-door Charger provides practicality alongside the show-stopping aesthetics, and the Scat Pack HEMI delivers genuine performance to back up the looks.
This is what happens when you take a vision, commit to it completely, and work with talented people who understand how to execute at the highest level. BumbleBee isn't just a themed car—it's a rolling statement that you can take inspiration from anywhere and make it your own.
