Katie - Toyota Yaris TR 1.33L

The Yaris is actually my 4th car. I started off with buying really cheap cars for the first few years. As I got more confident and I knew what I wanted I started saving up and bought the Yaris.

My name's Katie

My Instagram tag is @MK2_Yaris.

I work as a telecommunications engineer for Openreach. I was born in Germany in a town called Paderborn and moved over here when I was 12 years old. My dad was in the British army and stationed in Germany. I was fortunate enough to be raised with 2 languages from birth. I've now been in England for 8 years.

As a young child I always remember sitting in the lounge with my dad watching top gear and that's when I first started really enjoying cars. When I started my apprenticeship as a design engineer in 2016 my boss was a car enthusiast and really helped me work on my car and start modifying it. That's when the real bug for cars started and I got into actually modifying my car.

The Yaris is actually my 4th car. I started off with buying really cheap cars for the first few years. As I got more confident and I knew what I wanted I started saving up and bought the Yaris.

My first car was a 1996 K11 Green Micra called Kermit. Was a lovely little thing that really liked to challenge me with no abs or power steering.

I drive a 2010 MK2 Toyota Yaris TR 1.33L

  • - Power: 99 bhp
  • - Top Speed: 109 mph
  • - 0-60 mph: 11.3 secs
  • - Torque: 132 Nm

Current Modifications include:

  • -D2 racing coilovers
  • -JR 6 alloys
  • -Side Skirts
  • -Front splitter
  • -Custom Back Box
  • -Rear Seat Delete
  • -Front Semi Bucket Seats
  • -Toyota Motorsports Spoiler
  • -Sprayed Badges
  • -Tinted Lights and indicators
  • -Stickers
  • -Debadged
  • -Wind Deflectors
  • -Sunstrip
  • -Jap Plates

I still have loads of plans for the car such as a full exhaust system. Some better bucket seats, harness, roll cage. I'm also thinking about swapping the 1.8 into the car due to it being a straight forward swap. I also want to get the cars windows fully tinted. I'm thinking about getting the front and rear bumper smoother for a cleaner look. I'd also like to put the 1.8 led tail lights into the car at some point. At some point I would also like to get a chip tune box just to get a little more out of it.

All the work done on the car has been done by me with help of my other half and my mate. We've also done the timing chain on the car on the driveway. We also custom fabricated the seat rails and rear backbox on the car. On previous cars I've pretty much always done everything by myself with help for mates such as gearboxes, clutches, CV's and other odd bits like resoldering a throttle body.

Others involved in getting the car to where it is was my other half Michael and my mate Steve who helped putting parts on the car and problem solving getting universal parts on the car.

I am a member of the Yaris Club UK on Facebook and it as been very useful for sorting parts on the car.

I go to a lot of the local meets in the Dorset area. I go to the forge Motorsports days with the Auto Junkies stand I like the atmosphere at the castle Combe shows it's very relaxed and it's a well organized event with nice stands and a good track that never lets down. I am planning to head to more shows next year.

I've not entered the car in any competitions as of yet but will definitely be doing it soon. I'm happy with how it looks. I will be entering just for fun.

Next for me and the car will be to remove the center resonator and make it sound a little nicer. Also planning on starting work on wrapping parts of the interior in Alcantara to give it a more expensive feel in the car. I'm also hoping to pick up some sponsorships. I'm absolutely thrilled to buy and promote products I believe in.

What would my dream car be..Ooo this is a tough question there are so many cars I would like to own and modify. As long as I can remember I always wanted to own an s15 spec R just because I really enjoy how they look and love the RB engines. Ultimate goal would be a 1969 Skyline GTR. They are beautiful and unique.
