RACEWORZ SONOMA 2022 Sonoma Raceway - Sonoma, California USA
I honestly love events that invite all makes and models. As an event photographer, I really like the challenge of how to take pics of the different builds, paint schemes, wraps, and mods. I’m stoked this will be a second home for the show moving forward.

What’s up fam it’s Donnie Roc (r0cean11) again. I recently had the pleasure of attending Raceworz Sonoma this year. The guys: Matt, Marshall, and Wayne have thrown shows before but in Sacramento for many years now which I have been attending since 2014. This, however, would be the first time they hosted at this venue.
The show was definitely packed. It was honestly a good change as the Sacramento event always shows a specific crowd and cars; well with Sonoma being closer to the Bay Area, a ton of cars that I would normally see at SPOCOM SF or WEKFEST SJ actually came out. There were a ton of heavy hitters for sure.
Being the first time at a new venue there was a learning curve for the staff involved as with any host at a new venue hiccups are expected. The team adapted and everything went great the rest of the weekend. The first day was a full car show, drift exhibition, and drag races. It was legit tire smoke and race fuel in your nose everywhere you went. A gear heads haven. I enjoyed seeing a variety of cars. It wasn't just tuners. There were some old schools, hot rods, trucks, drag, drift, imports, euros, and domestic. The second was a giant car meet and still the drift and drags ran all day.
I honestly love events that invite all makes and models. As an event photographer, I really like the challenge of how to take pics of the different builds, paint schemes, wraps, and mods. I’m stoked this will be a second home for the show moving forward.
Luckily I was able to reach out to the guys to get some feedback and thoughts on the show, some history, and what this show means to them.
From Matt ~
Raceworz started in 2013. Almost 10 years now.
What does the event mean to me? That’s tough because I feel like it’s cliché to say it means everything. It means a lot of hard work, a lot of vision and a lot of people who all felt the same way we did. We set out to create an event and an experience that was different. Car shows had become repetitive, drag racing wasn’t drawing the crowds like it used to, and drifting is one of the most entertaining forms of automotive sports and so many people have never actually watched it. The event means hope to me. It means there is evolution within our industry, and hope for a new generation of car/automotive enthusiasts.
I think the show went well, however, my experience in business is that there are moments to celebrate the things that go right but it’s always time to work on what isn’t perfect. We had hiccups and logistical mistakes that were expected with it being our first year at a new venue but from those mistakes, we will learn and improve our strategy for next year.
Future endeavours for us are to expand to other tracks, we are hoping for Las Vegas next year. Nothing is official. We would love to have a “tour” that has a cup or tour champion and would feature 5-6 race events all over the country. We also are hoping for growth with our international team. Maybe Sweden soon?
I would also like to add that we have a philosophy within our team; “surround yourself with good people. Be a good person. Teams that are made up of good people don’t lose. We might make mistakes but overall a great formula for winning is to have great people on your team. Our team is truly made up of great individuals and every year we prove that having each other’s backs, and stepping up and treating people right always leads to success.
From Wayne ~
Raceworz all started by a chance encounter when I met Matt & Marshall at the Blox gathering event back in like 2012-2013? They invited an S2000 to meet at Dublin Honda which they were promoting. It went so well that we decided to do more events. We had pretty good success with bringing 300 cars or so to various dealerships. So we eventually sat down and decided to take it to the next level. Every car show is kinda boring after the 1st hr. You’ve seen all the cars already. We wanted to make it interactive and took the idea from the F&F movie. We changed the spelling a bit to not imply any negativity. 10 years later, here we are!
For, me, personally; I love the cars, the people, etc, but what tickles my fancy is hearing that we’ve brought so much joy and happiness to people that attend our events. They are so grateful for our efforts to even have an event like this to participate in. I also REALLY enjoy seeing ppl wearing the shirts that I designed. I still get a kick out of it! It really is fulfilling, I’m so grateful & blessed. I wouldn’t be able to find any better partners than these gentlemen here! The synergy we produce together is unbelievable!
From Marshall ~
Raceworz stemmed from Matt and I hosting large car meets, and dealership car shows, then partnering up with Wayne and continuing to host car shows at a handful of car dealerships also. We thought we needed to add an EXCITING aspect to a car show to really spice up the scene! Since we are all Fast & Furious fans, we brainstormed and came up with Raceworz! Our company was founded in 2013 and our first event in 2014 really changed our perspective on events. After many years of hosting events in Sacramento, Fontana & Norway we were finally able to expand to Sonoma!
The event stemmed from friendship, our automotive hobby & love for it. It has evolved into what we see today! It means the world to me that I can put time, money, and heart into my passion & hobby and bring joy to everyone who attends! And on top of that, I’m doing it with a group of friends with the same passion and love for the industry! Dream team.
Overall I feel the show went great! With year 1 at any venue, there are challenges and areas to improve. We aren’t perfect, but we strive to make our events great and smooth for all who come! Year 2 will be that much better, and we will continue to learn and grow.
The sky's the limit…… We are on year 9 and we are just getting started!!!!!!
