Like most people growing up, watching movies like Fast and the Furious or playing video games like Need for Speed, Forza, or Midnight Club really brought me close to the car scene without even realising it

My name is Isaiah Murillo. I'm 22 years old. My home town is Houston, Texas but I currently reside in Austin, Texas. Currently, I work as a local truck driver. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my friends and family, go to car meets/shows, work on my or my friend's cars, do automotive photography, and play some games on occasion.

Like most people growing up, watching movies like Fast and the Furious or playing video games like Need for Speed, Forza, or Midnight Club really brought me close to the car scene without even realising it. As well as my mom taking me and my siblings to the local Lowrider shows when they came around.

Eventually, as I got older and I was finally able to get my first car, I started going to all kinds of car meets and started doing all sorts of cheap mods to my car purely for the enjoyment of doing anything car related. Eventually, I made some really good friends and after several car meets together, they really pushed me to get my car to the point where it is now, and I'm forever grateful to them for that as now my car is my pride and joy.

Initially, I never intended to build an FRS or even purchase one, I was driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt at the time and it had hand crank windows, super high milage, had been in multiple accidents with previous owners and was constantly having issues. Eventually, my older brother was interested in selling his FRS and offered it to me for a price I couldn't pass up, which ultimately led to me buying the FRS leaving the beat-up Cobalt behind and starting the build on the FRS. I knew that regardless of what car I owned I was going to modify it in some way shape or form.

So like most people who are new to the modification world, I started searching up all kinds of aftermarket parts, watched countless youtube videos, and read multiple forums to assist me with the purchase and installation of the actual parts themselves. Then the next thing I know I ended up investing a good amount of time, money, and effort into getting the build to where it is at today which quickly became an addiction to see how the car changed over the years.

To me just being in possession of my car still feels like a huge accomplishment. The emotional rollercoaster that the car has put me through has really made me feel like all the effort I have put into building this car has been worth it in the end.

When I see the reactions that people have when seeing my car it motivates me more. It has really made me enjoy driving my car every day as in my eyes the car is my canvas to express myself, and when I see other people get excited by seeing it or having people show genuine curiosity and ask me questions about it has made me appreciate it so much more to see people enjoy what I use to express myself.

There's no shortage of builds of the FRS/BRZ/GT86 platform. But I take pride in the fact that I decided to go for certain parts that you don't see very often such as the front bumper or the wheels on the car. Or the fact that I decided to stick with the stock body as most tend to go for a widebody. But at the end of the day, every build is unique in its own way, and most things have been done once before so just have fun with it!!

The Work

Most of the work was done by me and a whole list of buddies that would be too big to list here, you guys know who you are and I'm forever grateful to yall. But watching videos and reading forums have helped greatly in teaching me how to fix a very specific issue or install a specific part. An important lesson I have learned from this is patience, patience and more patience.  I literally waited over a year on my front bumper as it was ordered, went through customs and finally to me from the opposite side of the world.  If you want something bad enough patience and determination are the key.

Future Plans:

As of right now, I'm happy with where the car sits, but I think the last couple of things that I'm going to do will be a custom trunk air-lift setup and maybe some carbon fibre front fenders. After that, I will enjoy the build where it stands until I decide to move on to the next build!

Advice/Tips

Build the car for you!! It's not a bad thing to take some opinions from people and consider them, but it is KEY to build the car how YOU want it. At the end of the day, it's your money that's being invested into it and it is the car that you will drive. So make it something that you will enjoy 100% even if nobody else likes it!

Shout Outs:

I would like to shout out my family first and foremost, they have been my biggest supporters since the very beginning and always will be! I would also like to shout out my car crew @TeamDiverse the people that I have met and the friendships that I have made are life long and I will forever be grateful for the advice and opportunity they have given me.

The Scene

I received some of the best friends ive ever made from the car scene and made some of the best memories that I have from it too! I will forever be grateful for the things that the car scene has brought into my life.

Dream Car:

My dream car is Mazda RX7 FD3S and it has been for a super long time, im blessed enough that I'm now actually looking into buying one here soon so hopefully soon ill be in possession of my dream car as well!
