1.Tell us all about you

My name is Archie sugar-Harmer, I’m 13 years old from Watton at stone In Hertfordshire, I enjoy sim drifting as well as mountain biking, rugby, and a few other sports, i like to keep fairly active, but do enjoy my sim time too!, I have 2 e36 saloon bmw’s the first has now become my practice car, and a new comp car that is being built right now, which I’m really enjoying helping out with the build, it’s been a mega achievement as it was a bare shell in February when we entered drift cup!! And it was on for being finished for the first round.. it’s been a lot of work but it’s all been worth it, this was going to be my first year in a full season of competition and I was so excited to be out there with everyone! We hope to still be out there very soon,

2.How did you get involved in drifting?

I had been kart racing on a competitive level for 3 years up until around may in 2019 we decided to have a little break from it for a few different reasons, this had us looking at a few other ways to get that adrenaline fix I was used to lol, my dad suggested drifting and I said “what’s that” once id had a look I was well up for a go at it.. we booked a 1-2-1 at learn2drift a few weeks later.

After a day of training I was totally hooked, and my now mentor “jojo” said I’d taken to it like a duck to water. So we booked the next one a few weeks later. In this session I ended up driving her practice car, which was amazing, I then went on to use her car for some practice days! It really escalated very very quickly! a few months later I had my own car and the rest is a bit of a blur!!!!

3.Why is it exciting for you?

Because it’s fast, and such a unique way to drive a car, overall it’s just such a fun experience, and the adrenaline rush is crazy

4.Memorable drifting experiences?

My favourite memorable experience so far has to be getting 2nd place at Buxton on the bdc layout last November, we went there because they were running the bdc layout and we thought it would be a mega experience!! What ended up happening was mind blowing, we had never been to Buxton before and only got 2 laps of the layout, so to then go on and get second place just blew me away! I'll never forget that night!

We were all buzzing afterwards,

Another was my first ever public drift day, it was a mega experience and Jojo lent me her car for the day, I also got to drive Julie Robinson’s skyline which was another mega thing to be able to do!

Overall tho every drift day is a memorable experience, the buzz and the excitement along with meeting great people is what it’s all about!

5.Have you sneezed while drifting in the car?

No but I have got my whole arm caught in the steering wheel!

6.What is the car you have had the most fun while driving and why?

Deffo my blue e36 saloon as it’s the car I’m used to driving hard so I tend to push myself to my limits without worrying about it,

7.What is the worst car you ever drove and why?

I haven’t driven many so I guess it has to be a Lexus!!

8.What is your dream drift car and why?

Ps13 has to be my favourite car, it’s what I drive on my sim!

9.What mod would you do first to your drift car?

Welded diff

10.Who is your favourite drifter?

I don’t have a favourite as such but Connor and jack shanahan along with James deane and Duane mckeever are some of my favourite drifters to watch!

11.Are you in it to win it – or do you drift just for fun?

I definitely go into a competition to be competitive so I guess I’m in it to win it. But I also love drifting as a hobby and every drift day is such a laugh and fun!

12.Where do you usually drift and is it your favourite, why?

We used to be at rockingham as our main track for practice, i also loved Birmingham wheels,

But so far Buxton has to be my favourite track, it’s mega fast and the bdc layout was savage!!!

13.When running at a new track how many laps does it take before you master it?

It probably takes me about 7-8 laps to get the line dialled in,

14.If you were going to start this over again, what three things would you do differently?

Well we have only been drifting a short time so I don’t really know, we are still whining at the moment!

15.What was your worst crash?

Deffo Buxton! I went in way to hard on my second practice lap and hit the wall! It didn’t look too bad until afterwards and we realised the whole rear end was smashed up! Jojo, Nick and my dad were really laughing, as apparently when I hit the wall i just said “oppsss” over the radio and carried on!!

16.What is Your best day in drifting and why?

Probably on that first 1-2-1 day! as that feeling of skidding a car was what got me hooked! Along with meeting some cool people that day that have been a huge part of my journey so far!

17.And you're worse?

I don’t think I can answer that, as to me there has never been a bad day in drifting! Even when my cars broke we still have fun and that’s what it’s all about!

18 What would you say to other people who want to become drift drivers?

Follow what you want to do, and just go for it!! YOLO

19 Where do you see your career in 5 years?

My dream would be to get into driftmasters! And i'll always believe I can get there,

In 5 years anything could happen!!

20 Do you have a routine or ritual that sets your mind before drifting?

I just put my game face on And send it!! worry about the consequences after!
