 VW 1968 Early Bay

I’ve always been into cars from a young age from seeing my grandad having some nice cars and my dad and uncle’s, also use to love going over the workshop and helping my dad restore old cars with his friends, at first it was Fords I enjoyed looking at going to shows and then pretty much took an interest in any car that caught my eye, while being in the army I got paid a good amount and was able to start my own car history.

As drinking and smoking wasn’t really my thing I got into cars properly and the start to modifying cars began and was around the time of the good old Max Power years which I enjoyed and made my love of cars even more and then going into the love of VW’s like my Brother and has pretty much been VW ever since.

I always wanted to have a car that I built with my family and friends to be in a magazine or win at a show as that would let me know what I’ve created was to people's taste and to hear Woolf say my car was nice or cool and that all the hard work wouldn’t of been for nothing.

This is my dream car I always wanted a VW camper and when I had the chance to buy 1 after looking for years I found a Texas import and bought it, a 1968 Early Bay 1.6 single port standard engine, it cost me a small fortune but with the money in my bank I had to have it and the fun began on this just like every other car but this one was more special as it’s a car I wanted for along time, also with help from my brother, dad and friends this has been a long time working on to get it to where it is today.

It’s had a full strip down and rebuilt, electrics gone through and redone, wheels and suspension changed and lowered, a conversion from a kombi bus to a full camper with bed, full interior retrim which custom panels made, the bus is also ratty and had abit of body work and just left how it was and clear coated as to me has so much more character, there's still more changes to make as you can never say that’s it with cars there’s always something else to do or change and whatever the future brings will only be bigger and better,

I’ve always enjoyed helping friends and family with their cars or project builds in whatever ways I can and there’s always something you have done that can help others or vise versa, and seeing either your own car or a friends come together and finished with a little bit of your input always puts a smile on my face and is worth the time spent.

The car scene has its moments but 90% of the time you can make some real great long term friends from all over the world because we all enjoy the same interests, cars
