The Ultimate Racing Event at Circuit of the Americas (COTA)

Every year for the last seven years, Super Lap Battle has taken over Circuit of the Americas (COTA), hosted by the incredible team at Global Time Attack. It’s not just a race—this is America’s ultimate Time Attack event.

Two full days of high-octane action, with race-fueled cars screaming around this premier F1 track, all in a battle to beat not only their personal bests but the records set by other fierce competitors. If you're into modified cars, JDM cars, or motorsports in general, this is the ultimate weekend experience. And let’s not forget — it’s not just racing! The weekend also hosts the Just Vibes Car Show and LoneStar Drift, making it a true gearhead's dream.

Super Lap Battle

Where Speed Meets Engineering Mastery

Run by Jason Dienhart and his skilled team, Super Lap Battle draws in an incredible variety of race builds. You name it—Exotics, JDM icons, American muscle, Euro beasts, Hypercars, and even classic legends. Every single build was pure track weaponry.

Imagine splitters so big you could lay out a Thanksgiving feast, and wings wide enough to double as a twin bed! At this level, aerodynamics isn’t just important—it’s everything. The motors thundered down the straightaway near the pits, with the grandstands amplifying the roaring symphony as the cars blitzed past.

This year’s competition saw a great mix of returning racers and fresh faces. One major highlight? Feras Qartoumy (IG: @feras_qartoumy) setting a track record with a 2-minute flat lap in his Corvette. Absolute machine!

The Rafa Racing Club returned in style, with everyone’s attention snagged by Oliver Webb’s (IG: @oliverjameswebb) blazing McLaren and Jem Hepworth’s (IG: @jemhepworth) incredible Lamborghini slicing through the course.

Just Vibes Car Show

A Paradise for Car Enthusiasts

When they said Just Vibes, they weren’t lying. Jeff Maldonado and his team absolutely delivered with one of their biggest shows yet — featuring close to 300 registered vehicles.

Everywhere you turned, there was something wild to see:

  • A stunning LBWK GTR,

  • Silvias galore,

  • Minty Honda hatchbacks with shaved and tucked bays,

  • '90s era Skylines standing proud,

  • And even a classic Ford truck with a 2JZ swap that drew a huge crowd.

If you’re into car magazines, JDM culture, or modified car builds, this show was pure eye candy. The Just Vibes Show doesn’t just put cars on display either — they brought models, live music, and tons of giveaways. It was truly a full-throttle production, and you could feel the energy buzzing through the whole venue.

LoneStar Drift: Smoke, Speed, and Style

And now... the smoke show.

LoneStar Drift had their playground set up on the skid pad both days — and it was sensory overload in the best possible way. Drift cars lit up the track, tires screaming, with the smell of burnt rubber and race fuel hanging thick in the air. Pure bliss for any drift fanatic.

We caught up with a couple of the drivers while we were there:

  • Dan Martin (IG: @diabetic_dan_) and his 350Z. Dan’s car was actually featured in Stance Auto Magazine a couple of years back! We were lucky enough to jump back in for some thrilling ride-alongs — and let me tell you, the man can drive.

  • We also spoke to Jason Buchanan (IG: @jasondriftz). This year, he brought out both a BRZ and an RX7 — and they weren't just any builds. The BRZ was built by Taylor Ray, and the RX7 was built by Forest Wang, two heavy hitters in the drift scene.

Stay tuned because we’ll be featuring Jason’s builds soon on Stance Auto Magazine!

r0cean11 Photography started as a hobby for me. I have been practicing for a little over 21 years now. I was building cars for SEMA before I dove into the world of automotive photography. I shot mainly for myself, as it was and remains a passion. I did not get serious until the last car I built was totaled. I now shoot and write for Stance Auto Magazine, PASMAG, 742 Marketing Events, Superlap Battle, Global Time Attack, RACEWORZ, and many other events around the USA. Automotive photography allows me to capture not just a car but the story behind it. Each builder puts a part of themselves in their vehicle. As a photographer, it’s my job to tell and share that story through my lens. You can check out my Facebook page for all my event coverage and many individual car shoots I have done.
