PROTRACK Unveils the Y5 Forged CL: Precision-Engineered for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Graefendorf, November 2025: After forged wheels made their debut at PROTRACK last year with the ONE forged and Y5 forged models for the BMW M models of the F and G series, the bar has been raised significantly higher again this year: The Y5 forged CL, a new high-performance wheel for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, will celebrate its premiere at the Essen Motor Show from November 29 to December 7 in Hall 7, Booth E22.

Wheels for motorsports and all track tool enthusiasts have always been at the core of the company founded by Christoph Penisch, founder and CEO of PROTRACK GmbH. What began with the organization of track days and the sale of rims and tires led to the founding of the PROTRACK brand in 2016 – with the clear goal of developing its own wheels that meet the requirements of modern track and motorsport use.

The central lock in combination with the striking openings reveal the motorsport design of the construction and give the wheel its characteristic structure.

Working together with engineers experienced in racing, lightweight and high-strength cast wheels manufactured using the flow forming process were developed in a short period of time. The PROTRACK ONE design developed in this process combines high brake clearance, stability, and low weight with a clear, functional design language – and is now one of the most widely used wheels on European racetracks.

An important step followed last year with the introduction of the first forged wheels, ONE forged and Y5 forged, which were developed specifically for the BMW M models of the F and G series. They consistently expanded the portfolio in the direction of higher strength and weight optimization, without losing sight of the everyday practicality typical of PROTRACK.

PROTRACK is now continuing this development with the new Y5 forged CL.

The wheel was specifically designed for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the 911 model series (992) with central locking and represents a consistent further development of previous forging technology – with a focus on maximum rigidity, minimum weight, and high load capacity under real racing conditions.

In designing the Y5 forged CL – where CL stands for Center Lock – every technical possibility was exploited to consistently optimize the weight-to-stability ratio. Based on extensive computer simulations, the material thickness was reduced using CNC 5-axis milling technology to such an extent that the wheel meets the strength and stiffness requirements of motorsport while keeping weight to a minimum. The spokes, which are open in several axes, illustrate this uncompromising lightweight construction approach.

To prevent tire twisting on the rim, which often occurs during racing, knurling has also been incorporated into both rim shoulders in the contact area.

The Y5 forged CL will be available from spring 2026 in sizes 9.5 x 20“ and 10.0 x 20” for the front axle and 12.0 x 21“ and 13.0 x 21” for the rear axle. It is designed for the Porsche 911 Turbo, GTS, GT3, and GT3 RS models of the 992 generation with central locking and will be launched with TÜV certification.

"Last year, we demonstrated what we are capable of with the Y5 forged for BMW M models in the G series. The motorsport-experienced engineering team at our design partner RTS set the bar very high. With the new Y5 forged CL with central locking for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, we are now taking the step up to the sports car Olympus. Our goal was to create a wheel that shines with extreme stability yet is very light – designed for the high mechanical and aerodynamic forces of this vehicle class," explains PROTRACK Managing Director Christoph Penisch.

To give visitors a direct impression of the new forged wheel on the vehicle, a white Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) will be on display at the booth, fitted with the Y5 forged CL in sizes 10.0 x 20“ at the front and 13.0 x 21” at the rear.

The second exhibit on display at the stand is the VW Golf 8 Clubsport 24h from Max Kruse Racing – the vehicle that not only won its class in the AT3 category at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, but was also the first vehicle ever to take overall victory in the NLS with alternative fuel.

The car is on display in racing trim and rolls on the proven PROTRACK ONE in the new TCR Gen2 variant. The 10.0 x 18“ wheels are colored white and red to match the GTi's ”50th anniversary" design.

PROTRACK will also be showcasing the RTS GT.II, a two-piece wheel in a classic Y-spoke design from Swiss brand RTS wheels, whose products are distributed exclusively in the EU by PROTRACK.

Of course, all other available PROTRACK designs in various colors and sizes will also be on display at the trade fair stand.
