My name is Jordan Silvester, I live in the UK England in the county of Lincolnshire. I’m 28 years old, working in the motor trade as a vehicle preparation (car valeter). As long as I can remember I’ve always been into cars and I enjoy all styles of builds.
Well where do I start, it’s a 1988 mk2 Volkswagen GTI Golf. It left the factory with a 1.8 8v engine but has been engine swapped with a 1.8 20v turbo agu engine from the later mk4 Golf GTI. It now sits on a stunning dent of bbs rm 15” split rims with gunmetal grey centers and polished lips with polished bolts wrapped in Toyo tires with a little bit off stretch on them more so on the rear. The car is painted in a non-vw paint code and it always surprises people when I tell them what car the car is when they ask, the paint colour is rover Nightfire red. Lowered on coil overs I couldn’t tell you the brand of them tbh they were fitted to the car when I got it.
The reason for choosing this car well for one what's not to love about the mk2 Golf GTI don’t think I’ve ever met a person that doesn’t love them. From the age of about 10 it was one car I always told people family and friends I’d own one day and started when I saw a stunning bright blue metallic mk2 Golf with a 20v engine at a local car show.
From that point, I knew I needed to get one and have one in my life. I bought the car from a good friend of mine Shane he owed the car for just over a year and when he first showed me the car when he got it I was obsessed with it and just kept at him that if he was to ever genuinely sell it I wanted first refusal on it.
Anyway, a year went by and Shane messaged me saying did you want to buy the golf for me? And at that moment in time, money was tight as I and my partner were expecting our first child together so we sat down and spoke and agreed if I could get the money I was asking for selling my mk5 Golf GTI I had at the time then it would be best time to buy the mk2 of him as if we left it any later baby would be here and money would be even tight so set to selling the mk5 and within 24/48 hrs of posting it for sale it sold which was buzzing.
I rang my friend Shane and told him we were on the way to buy it from him, honestly couldn’t thank him enough to keep hold off on it and not advertising it for sale for me to see if I could get the money together there not many people out there that would do it. Was the best buy I ever made and still is to this day coming up to 2 years of ownership of the vehicle.
I think the main thing that makes this car unique is as I say the colour it’s painted it just shocks everyone when I tell them it’s rover Nightfire red and with it being a 3dr GTI shell as well. It’s always a head turner whenever you go out for a drive or to shows as just not a car you get to use every day driving about well at least it isn’t from where I’m from anyway.

Who did the work?
A company called big perm customs did most of the work and used it as a giveaway vehicle which was won by someone the previous owner knew.
Future Plans
Who knows, I would like to redo the engine bay to get it possible fully smoothed bay and tidy more off the engine components up and make it look a bit tidier. I’ve also looked at adding an air ride to the vehicle as roads are not the best around Lincolnshire and would also like to get the seats and door cards retimed at some point just to finish off the interior.
