Discovering and Transforming The General Lee

We found a 1968 Charger that had been stored for two years. It was a rolling shell, already painted and with bodywork done. It came with a parts car and various extras, so we had a solid starting point. The car was transformed with 1969 Charger components, replacing the original taillight panel, doors, and grille.

Our restoration was inspired by Season 1, Episode 1, with as many authentic details as possible. The dash is 1968, but we used the same CB radio from Seasons 2-7 and sourced a horn button like Bo Duke’s. We built the roll bar with PVC pipe and duct tape to allow backseat access. It took five years to complete this project, with a focus on using as many original parts as possible.
