Lake Tahoe has a new automotive event on the map! The Southshore Showdown, organized by Ryan Lewis of Prevail Motorsports, recently held its inaugural event at the Tahoe Blue Event Center. For a first-time show, it was nothing short of impressive. With chill vibes, great music, and a sense of community, this event is poised to become a staple in the car show calendar. What really set this event apart? The fact that Prevail Motorsports went above and beyond by cooking for everyone in attendance—a rare and generous gesture that left a lasting impression on all who were there.
The Vision Behind Southshore Showdown
The idea for Southshore Showdown came to Ryan Lewis while attending another car event. He began thinking about how he could create something that would truly resonate with car enthusiasts—something that focused on the exhibitors and participants rather than the financial side of things. With that thought, Southshore Showdown was born.
“I wanted to create an event for the people, by the people," Ryan explains. "It was important to me to prioritize the experience of the exhibitors over everything else.”
Overcoming Challenges of a New Event
Hosting a new event always comes with challenges, and Southshore Showdown was no exception. From managing logistics to ensuring everything ran smoothly, there was a steep learning curve. “The roll-in process took a bit longer than expected since we were new to the environment and its challenges,” Ryan admits. However, despite these hurdles, the event was a success, with feedback from attendees being overwhelmingly positive.
What Sets Southshore Showdown Apart
One of the standout features of Southshore Showdown was the communal atmosphere created by Prevail Motorsports. Unlike many car shows where participants stick to their own groups, Southshore Showdown encouraged interaction by providing a lunch area for everyone to sit, eat, and get to know each other. This emphasis on community and connection was a refreshing change and added a unique element to the event.
Ryan shared, "It’s not just about showcasing cars; it’s about bringing people together. Providing lunch and a communal area helped foster new friendships and connections, which is something I haven't seen at many other shows."
Looking Ahead: The Future of Southshore Showdown
Following the success of the first event, Ryan and his team are already planning to expand Southshore Showdown. The event will now take place twice a year, with a "Spring Fling" and a year-end finale. The winners from these events, along with the previous year's champions, will compete for the prestigious “Best of the Best” title. To add to the excitement, a new "Best of Trophy" will be introduced, which the winner will hold onto for the entire year.
Lessons Learned and Moving Forward
Looking back, Ryan acknowledges the stress that came with organizing the event. "I wish I had known that everything would be alright in the end. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and breathe," he says. This experience has given him a new perspective on the effort required to host a successful car show, and he is excited to continue improving and growing the event.
Conclusion
Southshore Showdown has made a strong debut, establishing itself as a must-attend event in the car community. With a focus on the people and a commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere, this event is sure to grow in popularity in the coming years. As Ryan and his team continue to refine and expand the show, attendees can look forward to even more exciting experiences at future events.
