There are quite a few Staples in the great state of Texas. For instance, if you wanna grab a burger, ask any Texan, and they will advise you, to go try some Whataburger!  Every Texan swears by Whataburger, and they're made-to-order meals!  For travel stops, Buc-ee’s is the ultimate stop with so many gas pumps available, and the cleanest restrooms you’ll ever find!

Stop in, and you will have access to so many different food and snack options that you will be in foodie heaven!  And then, in the tuner car world, there is the one and only Tuned Originals, started by a car show legend with years and years of experience in the automotive world, Wayne Raqueno. Tuned Originals brings life, excitement, and a family atmosphere to the car show attendees!

You will often see Wayne walking back and forth just making sure every sponsor, vendor, car show attendee, and the spectator is having fun and enjoying their time!  Another cool fact is their awards are always special in their own way with background meaning to founder, Wayne’s life.

Thousands of automotive enthusiasts make the annual trip to Sneaky Pete’s Resort out in Lewisville, Texas, to attend Tuned Originals.  Just to give you a point of view, the resort is located right off of Lewisville Lake with the most gorgeous view of the water.

They host many weddings and other formal events here.  From the hundreds of show cars, all of the amazing vendors and Sponsors offering details about their products and services, the smokin’ hot models meeting and greeting everyone, the great food that I couldn’t get enough of, and that amazing Lakeside view, there was so much for everyone to come out and enjoy.  It’s no wonder that so many people come out for this event.

All of the top crews in the southwest came out to represent their teams to the fullest.  Team Diverse brought out members from neighbouring Oklahoma, and all over the state of Texas including past magazine-featured car Jonathan Valenzuela’s Subaru STI.

Square One had a majority of their team showcasing their ultimate showstoppers.  “We have to come out and show love to Tuned Originals every year!  We love Wayne!” Says team president, Kevin Siluangkhot.  All of the major teams in North Texas came out, including Team Nemesis, Team Elevate, Inmotion, Hi-Def, North Texas Kei’s, Team Unlimited, and Dallas Nissan Enthusiasts.  Each team seemed hyped up and excited to showcase their team spirit, and totally elevate the level of competition with all of their top show cars.

The level of support is impressive at Tuned Originals!  Huffines Subaru of Denton comes out every year as the presenting sponsor, further showing their support of the tuner scene. Stopping by their booth, you are always met with smiles from their dealership’s representatives, almost making me want to get a new car!  Lux Signs & Co. sponsored multiple awards including the Bikini Competition winner, Best of Show, and Best Performance.

Look them up for all of your signs and banner needs!  Newcomers to the US market in the oil and lubrication space, Rowe Motor Oil came out in force with their widebody Toyota Supra and R33 Nissan Skyline GTR. Find Jose from Rowe Motor Oil at future shows. You can tell he loves showcasing their products! “Tuned Originals is an experience, it’s what the car culture truly needs.

A car show that creates the perfect atmosphere for passionate car enthusiasts. It is packed with food, vendors, entertainment and some of the best show cars around! It’s something you have to experience to understand!” Other notable vendors and sponsors that made the event possible included Ivan’s Performance Shop and their lineup of exotics including Audi R8’s and Lamborghini’s, Kraken Motorsports with their arsenal of built Subaru’s, DFW Decals is a mainstay in the DFW automotive community, Angry Acorn Designs and their widebody kits, Import Crate and their awesome squash air fresheners, Pistol Pete’s Racing Liquids, Silver’s Cozy Customs, and ATD Auto Works who wrapped the infamous widebody V-Vision Lexus SC430 for Tuned Originals.  Look for a feature of this one-of-a-kind showstopper soon!

This year, Tuned Originals made their awards look like an anime squirrel.  When asked about the significance, we were told that one year ago from the date of the show, Wayne took in a squirrel he named Joey and rehabbed him after he was abandoned by his mother.  From rehydrating Joey to having to wake up every 3 hours for “milky time”, Wayne took a crash course in squirrel rehabilitation.

He made a full recovery and is currently living his best life in the wild.  We were then informed that October happens to be Squirrel Awareness Month.  What a meaning for the awards. Wayne adds, “next time you see a squirrel, thank him for planting a lot of the trees and forests that provide so much for us all!” Overall, a lot of amazing people took part in making the show happen like event managers, Dylan Ketrow and Taka, both flying in from Oregon and Florida, respectively. No squirrelling around here!

Says Wayne, “It's always an honour to be out and about with those who make up the car scene!  My health has taken a small hit but being with everyone here is what keeps me moving and shaking on to the next one. We have an amazing team with Dylan, Taka, Johnny, Mico, Mason, Edwin, Mike O., Jeff, Antonio, and Will.”

When asked if the rumours of him stopping his involvement in the shows are true, “how unfair would it be to take away an event that truly brings together teams and individuals who come here to be among family?  Seriously, 2023 is coming and Tuned Originals will be there!” We can’t wait to be there with you!

Part of the Tuned Originals prize was a full feature in Stance Auto Magazine which was won by Keegan Washington with his gorgeous Nissan 240SX, you will find his Full Build list and Story featured in our Printed magazine and Online HERE!!
