“Live to dream the impossible, you have to fail to succeed in the end. Without failure, you would never push yourself to accomplish your goal for success!”

 ~ Spencer Stroud

Hey! Hey! I’m Spencer and I absolutely have a strong passion for building cars! I started back in high school when my first car was a 1989 Honda CRX Si. I bought it for $800 and it was completely dead. I ended up learning how to fix everything myself and haven’t stopped since. Every day brings a new challenge and idea so you always have to keep on pushing yourself and give it everything you got!

Thanks to my first purchase of the Honda CRX I probably wouldn’t haven’t even started building cars. No one was ever around to help out or teach me so I started not knowing anything and boom here we are! Always loved the Fast and Furious movies like everyone else so it definitely inspired me to do my own thing. I wasn’t really big into the car scene in high school, but after I started building I couldn’t stop. If I had to go back and change anything honestly I wouldn’t. Even if things didn’t play out how they were today I dunno what or where I’d be. Cars, family, and trust are everything.

I chose to build this specific car due to the backstory of it all. My buddy had it for sale for $4000 since he completely smashed it into a pole and totaled it. I went to buy it and he said never mind. He then called me a few years ago and asked if I still wanted it. I of course said sure; he said no problem, bring me $1000 cash and come get it. Legit is headed over with a battery and radiator since that’s what it would need to hopefully start up. I hooked up everything, checked the oil, connected the battery, and sure enough, started without a single issue!

He never reported the accident so it’s a clean title as well. We pulled it out from under the tree and towed it home and started to get to work! After we were able to get it straightened out and the whole front end back to where it needed to be than the real work started.

I’ve owned nothing but Hondas mainly and one MazdaSpeed 3, but I definitely love my Honda Preludes! I’ve owned them all and could still hop in one today and do my thing. I’ve loved all my civics too but the preludes have always been my go-to. I look at my S2000 like the new Prelude. Back in the day, I used to do car work as a hobby then turned into a side job, and still is to this day. Typically anything to do with cars I’m down to do some work on no matter how hard it may be.

Anytime I go fill her up I always get the occasional Whos!! What kind of car is that!?” Always love to see the look on their faces when I say a Honda S2K. They simply look confused, haha, so I explain and let them see everything in it. My favorite part is seeing everyone smile that has definitely followed the build and those who know how bad this thing was when we first got her.

When you park your car and don’t turn around for a second look you bought the wrong car. The thing I think we all do even though we know we did the work. You always have to turn back and smile, I say. The thing I love is when the kiddos see it and they always have a face that makes you smile. I’m always welcoming their parents to allow them to sit inside and play with the buttons and airing it up and down and just having them make a memory they would never forget. I remember being 8-14 years old and never met anyone that would allow me to sit or even acknowledge me dreaming about their car and now I have one of those cars and the opportunity to let them enjoy what I couldn’t.

The advice I would give would be always take someone with you that knows cars period. Don’t buy a car at night either, make sure it's daytime so you can check every single thing on and in it! Motor and tranny first. Backstories and receipts are always great as well as title condition. Cosmetics aren’t really a big thing depending on the person. Anything you wanna mod on your build should be what you want it to be. It’s your build. Build it to how you want it.

The build for sure stands out a lot from your other S2K builds. I have a ton of custom 1/1 parts that no other S2K or any other car has. My style is different just like everyone else’s but deff the 1/1’s. For some people, they think all we did was just buy an S2K and throw parts on it. It’s the people who know how it was when we got it to know the hard work and the story behind it and the amount of work that went into bringing it truly back to life.

I had a lot of help from my wife Savannah and a couple of my friends: Hunter, Darius, Eric, and Chris, and my paint was done by none other than my buddy Junior Blair. As far as tuning and performance Kraken Motorsports located in Ft. Worth, Texas is the GO-TO SHOP! The things that had to be done by a shop and things we couldn’t do from the house are always a must.

Future plans I can not reveal until they are finished. All I can say is definitely stay tuned! A full shaved bay and massive precision 6266 turbo kit by Jason Shmuck is something I’ll let y’all in on though. Most definitely a boost over the bay. Absolutely can not wait to get it close to being finished but as every builder will tell you it’s never finished.

@krakenmotorsports is by far one of the best companies to go to for anything needed for your build. They are an awesome family-owned performance shop that I couldn’t say anything bad about. Amazing deals, prices, work, and just awesomeness all around.

The car scene means everything to me. I couldn’t be happier with the friends and family I have made from all the events and especially being a massive part of RaceWars with Jeff Maldonado for sure! SEMA was the best thing I ever got to experience and I absolutely can not wait to go back if I get the chance. Without the car scene, I honestly couldn’t tell you where I would be today. Jeff had opened up so many doors for me and I couldn’t be more blessed without that man! I have made more friends in the car scene than I have out of it. We usually host car meets and have roughly 80+ friends and family come to hang out and chill every other week.

My ultimate dream car would have to be a 1998 Toyota Supra. It’s one of those iconic cars that would be an absolute experience to own and build.
