2015 Corvette C7 Z06 7-speed - Eric Simpson
The first car I bought was a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z. Within a few weeks of owning the car, I was hooked on speed and just wanted to go fast. I was constantly street racing or going to someone’s track. I turned a hobby into a career, and it has been all I have done for the last 20 years.

My name is Eric Simpson. I was born July 13, 1982, in Dallas, Texas. My mother was too young to take care of me, and my father is unknown. I soon ended up in foster care, and a wonderful woman by the name of Gwendolyn Simmons adopted my brother and me. I believed for the longest that she was my biological grandmother only to learn at the age of thirteen that she was not.
By the age of six, I endured cancer, underwent surgery, lost a kidney, had several parts of my stomach removed, and was treated with chemotherapy, and I survived. As a school-age child, I always loved tearing things apart, putting them back together and figuring out how things worked. Smokey and the Bandit, Knight Rider & The A-Team were the shows that I grew up watching that really got me into the car scene. I found my way into cars because it was something I understood and that made sense in a world where everything seemed crazy. Vehicles helped me find a way to cope with my crazy life and brought peace, so naturally, I took to gasoline engines.
My Uncle John was in the military and had experience with tools and vehicles, which worked in my favour. He put the nail in the coffin with his knowledge because he was always wrenching on his Astro Van. He loved that van, and he showed me basic things about cars. The story writes itself after that.
I attended Lincoln Tech vocational school briefly after high school, and my career as an automotive technician began. Currently, I live in Waxahachie, Texas. I am married with five children, and the oldest serves in the U.S. Army. I love mudding, fishing, video games, football, basketball, hiking, paintball, dirt biking and anything else I can get an adrenaline rush out of.
I am the proud owner and builder of a 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 7-speed manual car that is named “Black Widow.” My heart and soul have gone into this build. I drive the 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 because I have always loved the chevy platform, and the corvette has always been the American dream car. They are fast and very sleek. I always remember hearing in high school about Corvettes and underground racing. I just knew I had to have one. My goal has always been to join the 200mph club and to run in the Texas US Mile.
Driving this car feels amazing. I get a rush every time I hit the gas, and she glides. This build demands attention as meticulousness has been an utmost priority since I began building it. The clean black and red paint scheme, red carbon fibre steering wheel, carbon fibre seats and an engine bay that you could eat from all make the car a head turner. I have attached a modification list in greater detail below. You can follow the build on Facebook: BlackWidowZ06 and on Insta @blackwidowvette_.

If I had any advice to offer, it would be this car requires a great deal of experience with cars and speciality equipment. Although, I have done a majority of all the work myself, certain speciality services like the paint, fuel system, and tuning I had outsourced. Furthermore, I would tell people to not let anyone tell them that dreams like this are not possible. You may have to work extremely hard and give up sleep, but you can do anything that you set your mind to.
Do not be afraid to bring your vision to life. Look at me… I come from nothing! To this day I am still dreaming, Lamborghini Countach has always been a dream car of mine. I feel like it is a car way that was ahead of its time. I am currently building a 6.6 427 small block that will put out 1500hp. My plans include building a transmission and a rear differential for Black Widow also.
The car scene has allowed turning a lifelong hobby into a source of income and for what has been an illustrious career so far. Joining car clubs and going to car meets has allowed me to make new friends and network. Some clubs require that you do certain things to become a member, so there may be some prerequisites to join. But overall, I have had a wonderful experience with them. I am a member of a SEMA Club Called “Level 7 Truck and Car Club.” Everyone in the club has been helpful and inviting. Their website is Level 7 Truck & Car Club (level7tc.com). They can be followed on Instagram at level7prez. Level 7 is always on the go doing videos, photo shoots and car shows.
I thank God for this journey that he has allowed me to have and will forever be indebted to His grace and mercy. I would like to thank my grandmother for never giving up on me when everyone thought that she should. And to my wife for all your love, friendship and support, I thank you and love you.
