2023 DRIFT MASTERS EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP CALENDAR RELEASED

Off the back of the craziest and most action-packed season of the Drift Masters European Championship (DMEC) in 2022, it was always set to be an uphill battle to try and outdo what was achieved in 2023. However after much planning during the off-season, confidence is high that this season will once again blitz anything ever done before and will undoubtedly go down in the history books as the most ambitious and competitive season of European, or potentially even Worldwide drifting, ever witnessed!

With 3 sell-out events in 2022 and all-time high attendances at almost all events last season, the growth and promise of European drifting has never been higher. And now, in order to cement drifting as the World’s fastest growing motorsport, the Drift Masters European Championship is throwing caution to the wind and going bigger and badder than what was previously imaginable. Here’s what to expect from the 2023 Drift Masters European Championship:

Round 1 – Ireland • Mondello Park, Kildare – May 6th & 7th, 2023

Once again the 2023 calendar will start in May in Ireland’s home of drifting, Mondello Park in Co. Kildare, which is situated just outside the country’s capital city of Dublin. With 10,000+ adoring fans from all across the globe ready to descend on the “Mecca” of Irish drifting for one weekend only, alongside a car show featuring more than 250 of Ireland’s best show cars, the wall of sound from the fans will be like nothing ever witnessed before, making 2023’s season opener one not to be missed.

Round 2 – Sweden • Drivecenter Arena, Fällfors – June 9th & 10th, 2023

Having travelled north to Sweden’s Drivecenter Arena, located in a picturesque setting just below the Arctic Circle, for the very first time in 2022 and with the incredible Scandinavian fans having left an everlasting mark on the hearts and minds of the Drift Masters drivers, team and fans, the series will once again return to the Fällfors circuit for Round 2 in early June. Expect plenty of thrills and spills when one of the fastest circuits on the calendar returns, forcing the DMEC drivers to be full throttle and full commitment right from the off.

Round 3 – Finland • Power Park Huvivaltio, Alahärmä – July 7th & 8th, 2023

After the introduction of Sweden last season, 2023’s calendar will see the series introduce another country for the very first time, with Finland’s Power Park Huvivaltio – the largest theme park in Finland – replacing Austria’s PS Racing Center on the calendar as it slots in as the third round of the year in early July. With the incredibly unique backdrop of rollercoasters making for what might be the most unique setting ever used for a drift event, and a custom-built circuit ready for the driver grid to go to war on, adrenaline levels will be at maximum capacity all weekend long to round out the first half of the season.

Round 4 – Latvia • Bikernieku Trase, Riga – July 29th & 30th, 2023

Next up on the calendar and much to the delight of the DMEC fanbase, the series will once again return to the firm fan-favourite Bikernieki Circuit in the Latvian capital of Riga, where thousands of delighted fans will descend to the Baltic country for one weekend only on the last weekend of July. This track is notorious for its high-speed entry and risk-reward layout, so expect surprises galore as the championship chase hots up as the second half of the season get underway. It’s Riga baby!

Round 5 – Germany • Ferropolis, Dessau – August 17th – 19th, 2023

If it’s unique venues you want to see, then Germany’s Ferropolis is one event you definitely need to witness at least once in your life. The aptly name “City of Iron” in the German town of Dessau, is an open-air colosseum set beneath the backdrop of huge abandoned 20th-century industrial machinery. For the penultimate round of the 2023 season and with no margin for error, the DMEC driver grid will be giving it their all under the night lights of this amazing venue to find out who will take one step closer to being crowned the 2023 Drift Masters European Champion.

Round 6 – Poland • Venue TBA, Warsaw – September 15th & 16th, 2023

However, the real game changer for the series and the sport of drifting will be the 2023 season finale where the 2023 DMEC season champion will officially be crowned. DMEC has taken over and completely transformed many unique Polish venues into incredible amphitheatres over the years, in cities such as Płock, Torún and most recently, Łódź for the season finale in 2022. This year’s season finale though, will be unlike anything ever witnessed in World drifting! 

In 2023, the Drift Masters European Championship finale will take place on September 15th & 16th in the Polish capital city of Warsaw in what is set to go down as one of the most ambitious and breathtaking motorsport events ever witnessed anywhere in the World. Why, you might ask? Well, for that you’ll have to stay tuned for one final venue announcement which is coming very soon, but trust us when we say, this one will be worth the wait and this event is guaranteed to go down as the most incredible spectacle ever witnessed in drift history.

So it’s pretty safe to say that the 2023 Drift Masters European Championship calendar has the makings to be unlike anything ever seen before. But, who will you be able to see compete for the top prize in European drifting this coming year? A full announcement will follow in the coming weeks according to Drift Masters, announcing the full 2023 driver grid, but with reigning champion Piotr Wiecek ready to defend his crown, and a star-studded line-up including already-announced Japanese driver, Naoki Nakamura ready to put him to the test, this year’s line-up will be like no other.
