My name is Daniel Puia, and I live in Cheshire, I'm pretty old for my hobbies some might say, but I love them lots! Thinking about cars all the time, loving the road trips and exploring new places, made me from an early age a car enthusiast and that changed my life.

Working in a warehouse as a Forklift Driver, 4 tons and 9 tons machines also made me pursue my passion for driving and feeds my need of improving myself in driving, better, safer, more accurate. Adding to this bit of an expensive hobby of car modifying all the time, I have added the photography part also, as I am going to hundreds of meets per year, and just wanted to get more involved in the actual car scene, so I've bought a camera! 

It all started as a hobby...... from when I was young, the car meets, car modifying made me and my dad stay late nights, long days, seeing groups of people gathering just to have a chat and change a bulb from yellow to a clear white LED or to add some speakers in the car and chop the rear parcel shelf, and that made me think so much about this industry.

Thinking about people gatherings, 5-10-50 people talking about the same subject, that is amazing! That is all about, life, people talking, feeling wonderful to be next to someone that has the same feelings or dreams as them! To laugh at the same joke and to fill up those empty holes in life, that is the car meet scene.

In 2020 I have seen the BMW M2 in a colour named Alpine White and that was it for me. I didn't want the car's looks, or the colour, even though that made me want that car the most, but the engine roar....and the power delivery on that street on that day, made me think about a solution to have one.

As I was going through online, the M2 has an N55 engine, so as the M135I pre-lci and Lci version, I had to get one! So I got a good deal from BMW for the 2016 Alpine white with red interior Lci M135i. My personality strives for flawlessness, so I had to do something about it. It's my car, my money, my rules and It feels AWESOME!

The fact that stock was feeling so different than now, I love it! Probably the best thing is the Android Screen, offering entertainment while stationary and good GPS directions while driving.

Spec List

M135i - N55 Engine was 316 bhp stock (dynoed day 1 and now is running 450 bhp limited by the fuel pump

• Deadening material in 70% of the car(rubber 1 inch and metal aluminium on top)

It's a lot more out there, but I can say one thing, it was a journey in all the modifications, everything needed to be checked and double-checked, working more and more, and that made the car more special for me.

The work was done by 10 different garages.

• The android screen was installed in Manchester
• The LSD in Ossett
• The custom exhaust in Cheshire
• The poly bushed in Ossett and Cheshire
• The carbon diffuser i did it
• The remap in Cheshire
• The suspension  in Cheshire
• The wheels and stance in Huddersfield 

Many places out there saw my car and had to work on it, as many people are involved in this, I was grateful, I paid the price to make it what is today.

Future Plans

Hmm........only the turbo can be changed to feel like a big change in this car, otherwise, everything is done already. I’m thinking of wrapping the car and having a turbo changed, but that is another story, another chapter in my life, and I can say the fact that I want to do it tomorrow, but money as we know.... don't grow in trees.

Advice

GET IT! 

M135i old or new, have the N55 engine, the same as in 2016–2018 F87 M2 — 272 kW (365 bhp)

The engine is known as a low power engine, BUT it was used in the 3 and 5 series named ActiveHybrid3 and 5, so the engine N55 had some extra power from an electric engine, as well as it was used in the ALPINA Biturbo F30, F31, F33, F34 engines producing 404 bhp stock, and in the common M135I pre-lci and LCI versions with 326 bhp stock but with a basic remap stage 1 software, the healthy n55 can produce 400+ bhp easily.

Buy the car, and drive it how it was meant to be driven! 

It's a car that will go up in price, as N55 was a common car engine, an M car engine, a hybrid engine and used by Alpina themselves also. So the engine will make the car more desirable, and more expensive in time.

What do I enjoy about the car scene, good question, Stories, People's hard times, Everyone gathers with a story, I like the ones that the car made the person feel better by driving somewhere nice and enjoying the time with family and friends. Those stories that people don't know each other, and meet in a car meet and are friends from 10-20 years ago, those ones are the best stories and it's remarkable.
