The Spirit of RaceWorz

RaceWorz began in 2013 as a dream shared by three friends—Matt (@raceworz_matt), Marshall (@raceworz_marsh), and Wayne (@raceworz_wayne)—who wanted to create more than just another car meet. What started as a grassroots event in Sacramento has evolved into a multi-venue, international celebration of car culture. From Arizona to Norway, RaceWorz brings together enthusiasts for unforgettable, immersive experiences, year after year.

A Weekend of High-Octane Action at Sonoma Raceway

This year’s RaceWorz, held at the iconic Sonoma Raceway, was three days of high-octane energy, community spirit, and unforgettable memories. From Friday through Sunday, the track was alive with the sounds of revving engines, the scent of burnt rubber, and the sight of thousands of enthusiasts celebrating the automotive lifestyle.

Drifting exhibitions thrilled fans, while drag races featured everything from Super Streets to sub-seven-second Electric Dragsters. Show cars were on full display, with jaw-dropping builds like a Liberty Walk Nissan GT-R, a motor-swapped Cobra, a Pandem-kitted Toyota Supra, and even a full Kevlar Nissan Silvia lighting up the paddock.

The diversity of vehicles was matched only by the crowd. Smiles, laughter, and good vibes were everywhere, showing that RaceWorz is more than an event—it's a cultural moment.

Behind the Scenes: The Passion Driving RaceWorz

Matt Chilcote on Legacy and Emotion

"RaceWorz is a deep sense of pride and purpose for me," says Matt. "It started as a humble idea among friends who loved motorsports and wanted to unify the scene. Thirteen years later, it’s surreal to see thousands of people, hundreds of racers and builders, all come together under one banner."

This year’s event held special meaning for Matt. Falling on Father’s Day weekend, he was reminded of his late father, who used to work the front gate of every RaceWorz until his passing in 2022.

"Seeing fathers with their kids, sharing their passion for cars, it hit home for me," Matt shared. "It’s why I do this. It's a way to honor my dad’s memory and keep that love alive."

RaceWorz continues to push the envelope—unifying all aspects of car culture, from drag and drift to show builds and lifestyle. Their next stop? Famoso Dragstrip in Bakersfield, October 11-12.

Wayne Chan on Unity and Evolving the Culture

"To me, RaceWorz is about unity," says Wayne Chan. "It's where people of all backgrounds can come together and share in the joy of motorsports."

Wayne emphasizes creating a safe, inclusive space that nurtures creativity, passion, and connection. The planning may be tough, but the reward is worth it.

"When I see smiles and hear people say they had the best time of their life, I know it’s all worth it. We want to keep evolving—maybe adding circuit racing in the future, expanding to new states. But no matter where we go, the spirit of RaceWorz remains the same."

Marshall Angel on Building an Experience

"It’s not just a show; it’s an all-day experience," says Marshall Angel. "RaceWorz brings together drag, drift, show cars—all in one place, for everyone."

For Marshall, it's about interactivity and engagement. Whether attendees are racing, drifting, showing, or just soaking in the atmosphere, the event is designed to be immersive.

"Hearing from first-time attendees that it's the best event they've ever been to? That’s everything. And we're not stopping. East Coast dates, expanded CarNVL drifting series in 2026—we're just getting started."
