A Lifelong Passion for Cars

My name is Matt, and I’m the owner of SWS Electric. I’m a pretty simple guy—I like to have nice things, and cars have always been a huge part of my life.

Growing up, I was obsessed with flipping through car magazines like Super Street and Import Tuner or browsing the AutoTrader catalogue when they used to have them in grocery stores. From the moment I got my first car, modifying it was the next logical step. There’s just something about cars that’s always drawn me in.

The Journey to My A91 CF Edition Supra

I drive an A91 CF Edition Supra, but getting to this point wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. I originally had an A91 CF Edition, but after an unfortunate hydroplaning accident, I had to start over.

Determined to get another one, I found a Supra in Pennsylvania and flew out to pick it up just in time for a show in Dallas. When I arrived, I quickly realized the dealership had lied—it wasn’t the CF Edition I was promised. Frustrated but still on a mission, I scrambled at the last minute and found another one in Virginia. I immediately drove there from Pennsylvania, secured the deal just before the dealership closed, and began my journey back—all just three days before the Dallas show.

It was a crazy experience, but I made it happen. My previous A91 was gone too soon, and I hadn’t finished everything I wanted to do with it. So, I had no choice but to start over and build it again—only better.

Driving the Supra – An Experience Like No Other

This car is a head-turner—there’s no doubt about it. Every time I take it out, people stare, snap photos, or even try to catch up just to get a better look. It’s fast, fun, and an absolute blast to drive.

The sound alone is intoxicating. The boost, the exhaust note, the way it pulls—it’s just an all-around amazing experience. There’s something special about a car that makes you excited to drive it every single time you get behind the wheel.

If you’re considering getting a Supra—just do it. But one piece of advice:

Make Sure You Check the Car in Person

The first dealership I went to tried to scam me by removing the OEM carbon fiber parts and replacing them with aftermarket ones—while still charging the CF Edition price. If you’re buying a special edition car, verify every detail before you sign anything.

The Art of Customization – Doing It Right

I’ve always believed in one thing: "Better to do it right than to do it twice."

Sure, DIY modifications are great, but sometimes it’s smarter to pay a well-trained, experienced installer to do it correctly the first time. I’ve seen too many people cut corners or rush things only to end up spending more time and money fixing mistakes.

Who Did the Work?

This time around, I took on some of the work myself with the help of @vi.f30. Unfortunately, I bought the Supra too close to TX2K, so Jotech Motorsports wasn’t able to squeeze me in for everything. Still, the build came together as planned.

The journey isn’t over. The next phase includes:

AESTHETIK – Building a Competitive Car Show Team

I co-founded AESTHETIK to bring together serious show cars. We wanted to create a team that could compete at high-level car events, unlike most clubs that are primarily for casual enthusiasts.

What the Car Scene Has Done for Me

The car scene has changed me in ways I never expected. Most people don’t realize it, but I’m actually pretty anti-social by nature.

Owning a car like this has forced me to step out of my comfort zone. People constantly stop to ask questions or give compliments, and that’s helped me become more outgoing. It’s crazy how a car can break down social barriers and introduce you to like-minded people.

Some of the friendships I’ve made through the car community are ones I’ll have for life.

No Such Thing as a “Dream” Car – Just Go Get It

I used to have a “dream car”, but honestly? Life’s too short to just dream about it.

If there’s something you really want, make it happen. It’s all about how hard you’re willing to work and what sacrifices you’re willing to make.
