Hi all, im Carl,

This is my Stanced BMW E87 120D with the M47 163bhp engine.

My story really began in the car scene around 7 years ago. I'd had brief spells previously showing cars in East Yorkshire previously, but really got into it in 2013 when i bought my first Subaru Impreza WRX and joined the Hull Scoobs car club.

Since then I've had a further 2 turbo imprezas, plus other cars such as a Megane RS, a Zafira GSI, Leon Cupra amongst others. I've shown with a few different clubs over the years, including ExtremeBHP, Hull Scoobs (now Hull Scoobs And Co) plus others.

Ive always had a family whilst being involved in the car scene, so funds haven't always been readily available, so I've done what i can when i can really and decided after all the petrol things I've owned to try something different with a diesel car. So onto my current car, which I've actually only owned around 3 months but have managed to make some good progress on it. It's a BMW E87 120D with the stronger 163bhp M47 engine.

The car is sitting low on some budget coilovers(FK) that were fitted when i bought it, however the ride is actually quite acceptable. It's all the way down at the front and is running without the adjusters at the rear. It has 10mm hubcentric spacers on the front for better fitment, and the rear tucks into the rear arch nicely.

Its sat on BMW 18" staggered X5 wheels, with 215/35/18 tyres on the front which are slightly stretched and 245/35/18 tyres on the rear. The wheels are also painted in pearl metallic purple. So onto other things I've done to the car.

The car is a sport model, which is the inbetween model of the SE and the Msport. It has a few optional extras from the factory, such as auto headlights and wipers, but I wanted more of an Msport feel inside. So currently it has the interior from a 2010 M Sport fitted which are half leather. I also fitted the centre console to give me an arm rest and the most important thing, cup holders. I also fitted all the M Sport dash and door trims, an M Sport leather steering wheel, gearknob, handbrake lever, and headlining and associated parts(black rather than the gray).

It gives it a much more premium feel inside. In addition to that I've fitted a 10.1 android tablet head unit which is a lot better than the standard unit, and keeps the kids entertained when we are out and about. In addition I also managed to get hold of a cruise control stalk, which is plug and play other than a little bit of coding done by a friend to cancel a DTC fault after fitting, which is a great upgrade for motorway runs.

Other things that have been done include wind deflectors, 5% limo tint on the rear windows, tinted front headlights, HID headlight bulbs and LED sidelights, rear exhaust silencer delete, led side repeaters, gel 3D number plates, a static works sunstrip, rear wiper delete, debadged, a Vbar Mod, matt black kidney grills with M Sport Stripes, and Black Carbon fibre BMW badge overlays. I also purchased Carly Connected Car, which is OBD2 coding software for BMW which is very user friendly for beginners and enables you to enable different features on the car.

Using this I've activated US style side markers which look great, I've also activated things like digital speedo, Alarm beep on lock and unlock, again giving that more premium feel and i also coded in my led light upgrades to stop any light flicker. So that's been my (very busy) journey modifying my car over the last 3 months of ownership, fitting all this around maintenance on the car as well.

The engine is very strong but standard power, but I have cleaned the EGR valve, replaced the front brakes, plus other small niggly faults that were on the car such as replacing the key reader and fixing the front washer jets. I have really loved owning this car so far, and i do have more plans for the near future, i intend to fit the M Sport front and rear bumpers, Some angel eye headlights, possibly some different wheels, and a remap and a full paint restoration.

I hope to have everything done to the ready for the 2021 car season when hopefully everything will be back to the new normal. I hope you've enjoyed reading a bit about myself and my car.
