Neil Brighton,

Vauxhall Insignia 2.0cdti Elite Nav

Instagram:@insignia160

I'm 32 from York and I am the owner of a heating company. I have been self-employed for a little of 4 years now and this has been the main funding of my beloved Vauxhall Insignia. I am married for 11 years to Vicki and have three children Hollie 13, Harri 12 & Grace 10.

All the family get involved with the cars, the club and the weekends away. In the last few years of modifying the insignia it has sparked interest within the family and now my wife has joined in with a Corsa VXR, my Dad with an Insignia 2.0t nav 4x4 and my brother with his Insignia estate and his wife's Corsa e.

Since joining Vx-enthusiast in 2015 and taking the club over in 2016 I have not only met some amazing people but made some real friends for life, reinstating the fact the car scene has even more to offer than the other amazing cars that I've seen throughout the years!

This is actually the first car I have modified properly. It all started 5 years ago when I bought my second Vauxhall insignia, it's a 2.0cdti Elite Nav, the car jumped out to me in the dealership, and I bought it before it had been prepared for sale on the day it had been traded in by the previous owner. It is one of only a handful that was set from the factory with Vauxhall flex ride system.

After buying the car I attended a Yorkshire modified car show as a spectator and I met the previous owner of Vx-enthusiast. That evening I joined the page and forum. I attended my first show with the club in September 2015 at this point the car was totally standard. The first modification was the front grill and this was what sparked the bug for me! From that point, the car has changed many times even to the point I've changed the same thing many times and then changed it back to how I'd had it done originally.

So what's been done??

ENGINE:

  • Custom exhaust with dual twin ghost chrome tips,
  • Ramair cone filter,
  • Colour coded boost and induction hose,
  • Painted covers,
  • Remap running 199.8 BHP 451Nm.

Interior:

  • Flat bottom steering wheel,
  • Vx Line gear knob,
  • Diamond stitched mats,
  • Carbon dipped stereo surrounds,
  • Walnut effect trims replaced with piano black,
  • Vibe black air component speakers,
  • Vibe black air 6x9's,
  • 2x 12inch pioneer champion pro series subs,
  • Pioneer D9701 amp,
  • In phase 1601 amp.

Exterior:

  • Irmscher replica boot spoiler,
  • Irmscher replica window spoiler,
  • Buick regal front grill,
  • Dechromed (either candy red, black or gold carbon hydro dipping)
  • Lower 40mm on springs,
  • Axe ax18 wheels,
  • Ford s max wing vents,
  • Smoothed universal bonnet scoop,
  • Bentley continental replica bonnet vents.
  • Maxton front splitter,
  • Customer rear corner spats.

I'm sure I will have missed a few things as it's been hard to try and remember everything that's been done over the years.

I have carried out basics myself but have had to call in some help along the way. Prestige custom exhausts (Leeds), Remapping spec (York), Birch Park garage (York), cappuccino tints (Leeds), Colour crazy (York) and I can't thank my sponsors from Element 7 Performance enough for, not only the opportunity to represent them but the use of their amazing detailing products!

I still have a long list of modifications I'd like to add to the car including air ride and some decent dyno figures after a few engine component changes before making the change to what I hope will be a VXR8 next!
