Chasing the Subaru Dream
I’ve always been hooked on Subarus. Since I was a kid, that classic blue-and-gold WRX STi look lived rent-free in my head. Rally stages, Gran Turismo, posters on my wall—it was the ultimate car to me. By 2015, I was seriously hunting for one.
That’s when this white Hawkeye WRX STi Type UK popped up for sale. You almost never see these in the UK, and I had never come across one in person before. Curiosity got the better of me, so I made the 200-mile trip to check it out.
The seller was just like me—passionate and meticulous about keeping the car in perfect shape. After seeing how well it had been cared for, I couldn’t walk away. Next thing I knew, the Subaru dream was mine.
Stock Beginnings and Early Mods
When I bought it, the car was completely stock, and I thought I’d keep it that way. My past cars—like a Yaris, Corsa, and Peugeot 207—had only seen small tweaks like lowering springs and splitters. But the WRX STi was different. Even bone stock, it had a raw energy and presence that those other cars could never match.
Over the years, though, I couldn’t resist personalizing it. The Impreza has worn a few different looks across the five years I’ve owned it, but the way it sits now is the best yet. Clean, aggressive, and timeless—I think this is the style I’ll stick with.
My Favourite Modification: Air Ride
The standout mod? Without question—air suspension.
This is my first car on air, and I’ve loved every second of it. Seeing people’s confused reactions when the Subaru “airs out” never gets old. Some don’t get it, but car people know—it’s all about the stance and that mix of practicality with show presence.
Add the distinctive Subaru boxer rumble to the equation, and this white WRX STi has become a real crowd-pleaser. Whether it’s at a local meet or just cruising down the road, it always grabs attention.

Living With the White Hawkeye

Of course, I share plenty of updates and past looks on Instagram—@rorymce.
A Subaru Legacy That Never Fades
A stock WRX STi will always turn heads because of its sound alone, but when you pair that heritage with a stance setup, rare white paint, and thoughtful mods, it becomes something truly special.
