Shawn Montgomery  - 1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

There were dozens of Jurassic park jeeps and Ford explorers that looked straight out of the movie. The hair on the back of my neck and my arms stood up straight as the excitement and wonderment flowed through me.

1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

I've always been into vehicles from a young age. It started with Hotwheels and matchbox cars and as I grew up evolved into owning more than 40 different vehicles at this point. Everything and anything. This one, in particular, was purchased as the most plain almost ready for the scrap yard Jeep you could buy. I saved her from that fate. As most people with Jeeps do I gave her a name. "Plain Jane". Here's how this whole Jurassic adventure started. I was on vacation with my family in Branson, Missouri USA when we stumbled upon the first national meet-up of the Jurassic Park Motorpool. (jpmotorpool.com).

There were dozens of Jurassic park jeeps and Ford explorers that looked straight out of the movie. The hair on the back of my neck and my arms stood up straight as the excitement and wonderment flowed through me. I was amazed at what I was seeing. After purchasing a Jurassic license plate from a vendor and now friend @jurassic_vic I decided at that moment I wanted to build a Jurassic park movie jeep replica. On the 8 plus hour drive home all I could think about was building it and what adventures I would go on and I did just that. After a couple of weeks of searching, I found my jeep. I wanted it to be brand new and not worry about driving it anywhere so I tore it down to the frame. Restoring, replacing and painting everything. It took me a year and a half of blood sweat and a few curse words to get her done. I had finally done it! A year later I walked out in my garage and I still can't believe it's mine and that I built it. She has won a few trophies in the small car show season due to covid but it has inspired many and put smiles 9n thousands of faces.

I'm from Valparaiso,  Indiana USA I work as a shop supervisor and lead technician for a waste removal company. In my spare time, I build movie vehicles working on my second one now. The Mercedes from Jurassic Park The Lost World. @maiscedes. I also like to build sculptures from metal to sell for fun.

What got you into Cars?

I would really say I was just born loving vehicles. I wanted to understand how they worked, what made them move and I enjoy different styles. I've had imports 4x4s vans trucks cars everything. My first build was a 1992 Honda Prelude SI back in 1999. When fast and furious started. That's what got me hooked into the car shows and street racing. I don't advise street racing, it got me into a lot of trouble financially and with the law. I learned my lesson.

It is amazing owning this jeep. Everywhere you go people whip out their phones to get a pic or flag me down and ask if they can get a pic with it. Sure!!! A lot of conversations get started with it. This can be bothersome if u are in a hurry. It's cool though most often I will stop and chat. I did a car show for the Make a wish foundation. The boy it was for is Ethan. He was 8 at the time and was diagnosed with leukaemia. At the car show, I was asked by the staff if I would stay after to get some photos. Absolutely I said. I will do whatever Ethan wants. He picked my Jeep to win the show and I had to choke back the tears as I accepted the 6 ft Tall trophy from him.

It really was one of the best moments in my life. Even as I write this I'm getting choked up a bit. So I asked his parents if they minded if I took him for a ride. They smiled and said yes. So I drive him all around the car show. At first, he was timid but I told him look at all these kids waving at you. They want to be in here riding in a Jurassic park movie jeep. He then got a big smile on his face and started waving at everyone and having a great time. There were over 300 cars there that day. It was my Jeep "Jurassic Jane" now instead of Plain Jane. First car show! The experience couldn't have been more epic. I thanked him and his parents for giving me the opportunity.  I will never forget. So in a nutshell that is how it feels to touch people with a movie a time in the past, a connection they have to it.

What makes it unique?

Almost anywhere I go people know the jeep. People in my town know where my house is based on it being parked outside. It easily stands out because of the Jurassic Park movies and the Jurassic World movies.

Mods

The door decals were purchased from jp.401graphics.com trust me they are the most accurate ones you will find.

Suspension is a 2.5-inch lift from roughcountry.com

The soft top is from ExtremeTerrain.com

All work start to finish done by myself in my two-car garage

Future Plans

No plans for mods leaving it the way it is to watch the movie. Although I have thought about larger tires and a sound system to make it roar.
