A Passion for Diverse Collecting

My name is Marcos Regalado, and I am a car enthusiast with a diverse collection that reflects my love for automobiles. While Nissans and Chevrolets are my go-to brands, I appreciate various types of cars. One day, I plan to open a museum to showcase my collection, highlighting the unique stories behind each vehicle.

The Allure of Datsun and Nissan

Datsuns have always caught my attention, and when the name changed to Nissan, I wondered if the company would completely shift its design philosophy. However, they stayed true to their roots. Once the Skyline chassis was introduced, I saw the company embrace the future of motorsport, which solidified my admiration for their vehicles.

As a dedicated car collector, choosing the Skyline chassis was a must. My passion has always leaned toward the 1970s, making the Hakosuka and Kenmeri GTR my top priorities. I currently own an R35 GTR and am still on the lookout for a nice R32, R33, or R34. This Kenmeri was the perfect find, acquired at the perfect price and in outstanding condition. The restoration work by @ultradetails was nothing short of amazing.

The Unique Story Behind the Kenmeri

The Kenmeri name carries a remarkable meaning. This model of the GT-R is also known as the Kenmeri Skyline, inspired by a popular advertisement featuring a young couple named Ken and Mary. This nickname was affectionately given to the second generation of the Nissan Skyline, specifically the fastback coupe version.

Nissan Skyline  Kenmeri: The Build

This custom build boasts upgraded comfort and performance, starting with custom front seats utilizing Nissan 350Z seat shells, reshaped with new backrests and upholstered in European black leather by Santy in Hawthorne, California. It rides on 14x7-inch Techno Racing wheels wrapped in 195/60R Bridgestone Potenza RE-01 tires, complemented by a comprehensive Ermish Racing suspension overhaul. This includes new urethane bushings, replated hardware, rebuilt front and rear brakes, and Ermish Racing custom-valved shocks and struts with adjustable camber plates. The vehicle's maintenance is handled by Neely Motorsports Inc. of Lawndale, California.

Under the hood, it's powered by an upgraded 2.8-liter L28 inline six-cylinder engine paired with an upgraded servo synchro five-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to the wheels via a NISMO R200 limited-slip differential featuring a 3.90:1 gear ratio. A custom B-line Motorsports stainless-steel header and exhaust system ensures optimal flow, while Borla Induction individual throttle bodies with custom velocity stacks enhance air intake. Engine management is handled by a Holley HP system with a Holley EFI fuel system and an in-tank EFI retrofit fuel pump. Finally, an upgraded cooling system features a C&R aluminum oil-to-water heat exchanger and an electric fan.

Future Plans for the Kenmeri

It's hard to say what the future holds for this car, as it is truly a piece of automotive history. With that in mind, I wouldn't want to change much. I may restore some parts to bring them back to their factory-new condition, preserving the essence of this iconic vehicle.

Dream Car
