I’m from Glendale Heights, IL. I'm currently majoring in Automotive at the College of Dupage and soon hoping to transfer to Southern Illinois University to receive my Bachelors. What got me into cars was mainly the influence my dad had on me. When I was younger he would take me to car shows. I especially liked seeing everyone's car modifications and how everything can be done to a car.

Every year my parents would take me to the auto show in Chicago. I believe that's what led me into getting the Subaru STI. I remember going into the Subaru section, as soon as I stepped foot in one I asked my dad if I looked good in one. Now after eight years it's sitting in my garage. I chose this car because I always loved how Subarus would have the giant wing on the back as a kid. I think it made little Joel think the car was fast.

So why did I choose this car? Well, I wanted a car that had the performance and the looks. A car that grabs people's attention without having to do anything to the car. I got tired of it being stock and wanted to build something on my own without messing up the car's factory look. I still want it to look like a Subaru.

This car really makes me feel like what I'm trying to achieve in life is coming. The thing I would say makes my STI would be the exterior modifications. I like keeping the slick look the Subaru has, which is why I would never take off the wing how others would.

Advice/Tips

My biggest advice to anyone modifying a car would be to not take away what the car really is. By that, I mean whatever brand you're modifying doesn't make it look like something else. I think people should appreciate knowing you made a Honda, Subaru or Nissan look good. That makes them wonder why it wasn't fabricated that way.

Future Plans

I plan to go big on this car by adding carbon fibre side skirts with following with a Seieon carbon fibre CW-styled hood. As for engine modifications I would like to add a Tial Q atmospheric blow-off valve connected to the ETS front mount intercooler. Finally, either putting BC coilovers or Airlift performance. That's as far as my plans go for the STI. My plans, later on, would be to hopefully get a MK5 Supra 3.0.

Shout Outs

I would like to thank my photographer and very good friend Andre Ungaro from (Instagram: @6spd_media) for the photos. The next person I would like to thank is CJ Guttierez the one who actually found my wheels for me. I would like to thank my closest friends Johnny Ayala, Nathan Stoy, Jose Valdivia, Aftab Mohamed, Kevin Siam, Evi Ramirez and Kelvin Martinez for being so supportive of my build. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents for being supportive of my ideas and I also would like to thank god for everything that I have.
