My name is Colin, I own a 1973 Datsun 240Z. I spent six years in the Army and now I go to college at UTSA. I am originally from Indiana but my passion for cars really grew while I was living in Georgia and building my car. I’ve always liked cars, I grew up with hot wheels and racing games but I really got into cars while building my Datsun. It started as me buying my favourite car and a few small mods quickly turned into an entire build.

I like meeting people who have similar interests as myself, learning from others, and seeing other people’s builds. Some of my best friends have been made through a mutual interest in cars.

Right after I got my license, I saw a 240z for sale on the side of the road. I loved the body style, and it was immediately my favourite car, but I couldn’t afford it at the time. So as soon as I had the opportunity to own one, I took it. The biggest thing to look for when buying a Datsun is body damage and rust. If you’re able to find a Datsun with a clean body and minimal rust it will make turning the car into whatever you want so much easier.

The car is incredibly fun to drive, it may not be as refined and comfortable as more modern sports cars, but you feel connected to the car and road while driving. It does tend to stand out a little in traffic as well. Datsun’s are already rare to see on the road and most Datsun owners like to keep the stock. LS and RB swaps are also more common to see than JZ engines.
