The Story of Our Build

Hi, I’m Art Herrera. I’m 47 years old, a painting contractor from Big Bear Lake, and I live in Apple Valley, California. I’ve loved cars and trucks for as long as I can remember. I was only eight years old when I saw my first mini truck, and from that moment, I was hooked.

I wanted to watch anything on TV that had to do with cars. Boulevard Nights was one of my favorite movies, and not for the storyline—it was because of the cars. Growing up, I went to every car show I could find, soaking in all the different styles. Honestly, if it’s got four wheels and a motor, I’m there.

Why the 2010 Dodge Charger?

This car started as our family car. But let’s be real—I can’t keep anything stock. We already owned the Charger, and we liked its look, but I knew it could be more. We started with air ride and rims, and it looked so much better lowered. From there, the project just grew. Not many people go all out customizing a 2010 Dodge Charger, but we did it anyway. This car is going to stay in our family forever.

2010 Bagged Dodge Charger: How the Build Took Shape

We built this car out of pure love for cars and customizing. We knew some people wouldn’t like it because it’s a theme car, but that didn’t matter to us. This car had to represent us, our style, and our vision. It’s been so rewarding to see people’s faces light up when they see the Charger. Whether it’s parked, laid out, or in full show mode, it makes us proud. We built this car our way.

Engine and Drivetrain

The Charger runs on a 3.5L engine with a cold air intake. We added custom airbrushing and engraving to give it that one-of-a-kind look.

Suspension

We put the car on air ride from Universal Air, and it’s equipped with drilled and slotted rotors.

Wheels, Brakes, and Tires

The rims are 3-piece Magnum Forged with custom engraving by Hanro Studios, wrapped in Toyo Proxes4 tires.

Interior

California Upholstery handled the interior, and they did an amazing job.

Audio and Video

Audiotistics did the custom audio system, which included custom door panels and a custom center console.

Exterior

We went all out on the exterior. I pulled the headlights apart, airbrushed them, drilled holes, added LED lights, and put them back together. The hood flips forward, and we installed a double sunroof to make it truly unique.

2010 Bagged Dodge Charger: Predator Inspiration

Do you remember the movie Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger? That’s the theme of the whole car. It’s not something you see every day, and that’s what makes it special to us.

Plans for the Future

We’ve decided to put the Charger away for 3-4 years while we focus on my wife Vanessa’s 2012 Audi TTS. She crashed it on the freeway five years ago during a seizure and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Her license was taken away, so she lost the motivation to fix it.

Before the crash, the Audi was on an air ride, with custom rims, an interior, a wrap, and a minor audio system. It’s time to bring it back to show quality and hit the shows again. I’m also working on my first car, a 1980 Ford Granada. I bought it from my dad when I was 16, and it’s been in the family ever since. Over the years, I’ve tried getting work done on it, but things didn’t work out with the shops I chose. Now that I’m older, it’s time to do it right. Why a 1980 Ford Granada? Two reasons: it’s been in the family for so long, and I love being different. When it’s done, it’s going to be a show-stopper.#

Advice for Car Enthusiasts

If you’re into cars and dreaming of building one, here’s my advice: don’t give up. You’re going to run into shady shops, but don’t let that stop you. Keep looking until you find the right place. Go to car shows, talk to people, and ask where they’ve had their work done. Most importantly, make sure they’re happy with the results.

What Cars Mean to Us

We’ve met so many people in the car scene and even traveled out of state for shows. We love seeing the builds others have created and sharing our own.As for dream cars, I don’t have just one. I want them all—from hot rods to rat rods, lifted trucks to lowered trucks, and custom cars of every kind. I love them all.

Shoutouts

Big thanks to the shops and people who helped us bring this car to life:

Also, a shoutout to my club @uniquetechnique760—we’ve had a blast in the car scene together.
