Kevin McGee - 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT
I feel like mine stands out because it’s a mixture of a lot of future technology in a 30-year-old car but has the retro look to it. Surprisingly a lot of people didn’t even know Mitsubishi Made 3000GTs or that the Dodge stealth was technically the same car.

I’m in the US Air Force as an X-ray technologist, Im a 27-year-old man and father of Two kids (Boy and a girl) That loves three things in this world Gaming, Basketball and Japanese cars .. 90s Japanese cars to be exact.
I’ve always liked cars as far I can remember gaming with my PS1 and playing the first gran Turismo, but I really didn’t get into the scene until my senior year of high school. When my Basketball teammate that owned a C-5 Corvette would always talk about car meets him and his dad will go to so I asked him to bring me along for one and from then I was set on being more involved with cars once I joined the military and actually had money to afford my own car and to fix up one I started to hang with the other car guys from around the base and conveniently we all lived in the dorms together so we always out in the parking lot helping each other with cars taking pictures being loud and just having fun a lot of good memories For sure
I drive A Semi-matte White 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT, and it’s a car that’s been in my life all of my life and I’d hate to see it right away like most of the same cars have already done. Surprisingly enough this car has been owned since 1993 by my dad and I’ve seen it over the years and just sit in our old home in Texas so about five years ago I decided to take it over and make a serious build out of it
It feels great owning this car as I feel like someone that has something that a lot of people don’t so in a way I would say it’s a unique feeling but also the style of the car just makes me feel like I’m back in the 90s all the time with the pop-up headlights, as for driving it I’ve baby my car a lot I’m not gonna lie but I like to take it on curvy back roads because it feels very quick horizontally.
So I would definitely say this is a car not meant for the faint of heart it’s a very intimidating chassis/engine bay, and I’d only recommend getting it if this is a car that you really want because you’re gonna deal with a lot of headaches as far as trying to find parts for cheap or parts in general, But nonetheless, the 3S/GTO/Stealth community all right great bunch of people and are very helping and willing to share a lot of knowledge with you which you don’t see a lot of that from other car communities since there’s not very many of us.
I think my car is unique because without a doubt I could say if I’m not in a major city there’s only at most three of the same vehicle in that particular city and that’s not even to mention those that actually have their cars running I feel like mine stands out because it’s a mixture of a lot of future technology in a 30-year-old car but has the retro look to it. Surprisingly a lot of people didn’t even know Mitsubishi Made 3000GTs or that the Dodge stealth was technically the same car.
Modifications:
- 3.0l 6G72 24v DOHC
- Megan lowering springs
- HKS single shot exhaust system
- HKS Superpowerflow air intake
- Grimspeed head gaskets
- Defi Advance ZD control system
- AEM A/F ratio gauge and pillar
- Mishimoto radiator
I’ve actually done everything on the car from doing the timing and replacing head gaskets all the way to painting the actual car itself in my garage, it’s sort of been the car I’ve had to learn how to work on and I’ll definitely tell you that I’ve had a lot of rough times with this car but it’s definitely rewarding getting through those rough times and as for painting the car it was my first time doing it by myself and according to most people I’ve talked to and those I’ve seen the car in person they believe it’s a pretty decent job for a non-professional painter so I’m definitely gonna give it a go one of these days again.
Future Plans
I have BC Racing coilovers on the way currently - 18x8.5 5zigen 5ZR wheels ready to be put on the car right now just been busy with travelling recently - I’m really considering a supercharger kit - Also going to install a 99’ combat wing - Also on the fence with repainting the car.
Advice/Tips
If you can get your hands on as many OEM Engine parts as possible personally I have experienced it but it’s a common belief that aftermarket engine parts aren’t very reliable so most owners stick to OEM.
Groups/Shout Outs
I’m part of the 3SFlorida group but it’s on Facebook mainly as for Instagram, I’d recommend following @GTOcentral since most of us are on that page.
The car scene has given me a whole new perspective on friendship and has taught me about myself, a lot if you would’ve told me in middle school I would be fascinated with cars older than myself, go to To car events with my family, meet probably the best friends that I have ever had through cars and learn a lot from them and other people that are complete strangers not gonna lie I would think that you’re speaking to me in a foreign language because my love for cars and the community regardless of where it’s at has grown.
It’s not about being the fastest car in My eyes (even though they are more fun) it’s about you appreciating your car as if it’s an art and you wanting to show other people something that you created yourself and appreciating their art as well. There are such levels to this from the racing scene to the stance scene, classic cars, exotic owners to the actual car photographers which Might I add don’t get enough credit for their contributions to the car scene, so I definitely can say is left a very positive impact on my life and I’m just enjoying the ride hopefully I can share this with my children and they can appreciate it to some degree.
Dream Car
I’d say my dream car if it wasn’t the one that I already have is a 1992 Honda NSX-R, this was the car that introduced me to my love of actual gaming and cars when I played Gran Turismo on my PlayStation one I would always pick the NSX. Yes I know it’s not necessarily the fastest car on the planet but it’s about how iconic the look to the car is how no matter where you are or who you are if you have that car or if you see their car everybody stops and it’s just a sight to see, every time I see one at a car meet that is literally the first person I’m trying to talk to if I had the money no matter what the price tag was I’d buy one no question.
