My name is Kimberly Allen. I’m an Army veteran, mom of 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a car enthusiast. I currently work in IT and enjoy photography, car events, and travelling. I like to think I was born into the car world. My mom would take me to the drag strip as soon as I was able to wear earmuffs to be there for my dad (he raced nitro funny cars/fuel altered).

So, I grew up in the NHRA drag racing world. Then, as cliche as it is, when The Fast and the Furious came out I found my love for imports. Who knew half the cylinders could still make that much power! Haha, I’ve been hooked ever since.

I have a 2015 WRX I call Maci Grey. I always wanted an STI since I had seen a few at Hot Import Nights in the early 2000s. When the 2015 WRX came out, I did my research on the FA platform and decided that it was the platform I wanted to work with. As awesome as the STI is, the FA platform on the WRX was the direction for me. I’ve loved her ever since.

I’ve modified every car I’ve owned in some way shape or form, but this car was the one I wanted to go all in on. Once I got a taste of it, modifying was the only way to go. I wanted to see how far I could go. It’s a love-hate relationship sometimes. Haha, The smiles I get driving her to make up for the money spent, blood, sweat, and stress. It’s the first new car I’ve ever bought, and I can’t imagine ever having to get rid of it. The car is a part of what makes me, me.

What would I say makes my car unique?  Well, clean. Simple. Not too over the top. I kept things simple for the exterior because I didn’t want to do what everyone else was doing. I’ve been underestimated my whole life. The car is an extension of that. Underestimate her and she’ll show you what she’s really made of.

The Work

I’ve done a lot on the car myself, or with the help of friends/family. The first major changes (short block, etc) were completed by Pacific Import Racing (Tacoma, WA), and when I was able to finally upgrade the turbo, I sent her over to Kozmic Motorsports (Houston, TX) to have the upgrades installed and have the car pro-tuned.

Advice/Tips

It’s a Subaru. It’s gonna leak. It’s gonna make noises. But if you treat it right it can be one of the best cars you’ve ever had. Upgrade your valve train, keep up on maintenance, and just have fun with it. Life is too short to drive a boring car. Do what is right for you, and don’t mind the opinions of others.

Future Plans

I’m looking into doing an STI transmission swap, ecu upgrade, and upgrading the sound system, but for now, she’s right where I want her. At least until the next part breaks. Haha

The Scene

I used to be a part of a couple of clubs, but I’ve noticed the car scene has changed quite a bit and being a part of clubs isn’t really for me anymore. I prefer hanging out with a small group of friends and just enjoying our cars. Even if it’s just going to the car wash, driving around town, going to car shows, and track events. Clubs may be right for some and not others. Groups are great for when you have questions, want to meet new people and such. Especially if you are new to an area or to a certain type of car.

I’ve met a lot of people through clubs, meets, and shows. I’ve made a few close friends and have made so many memories. I’ve noticed that social media is a great tool when it comes to meeting new people. As someone with social anxiety, social media makes talking to like-minded car enthusiasts easier and takes away some of the pressure.

Dream Car

Much like many of my friends, my dream car is a supercar. It is not a Ferrari La Ferrari, or a Lamborghini Aventador, or even a Bugatti, but a Koenigsegg One:1. Koenigsegg is my favorite brand of a supercar, and all Christian Koenigsegg’s cars are beautiful. I’d take any of them honestly but the One:1 is my favorite.
